Called for a snack lunch on the spur of the moment. So glad we did. Plenty of parking, warm welcome and fantastic menu. We ordered baguettes; delicious, with plenty of filling and freshly cooked bread accompanied by salad, lighlty cooked crisps and coleslaw. They had a range of fillings including chicken mayo, prawn, local ham, local cheese. The menu for...

One is never sure what one is going to encounter in Wales so i was very pleasantly surprised when i found the bar hotel in Crickhowell. Got to be on your toes to find the gated entrance off the high street but there was ample secure parking. Inside was a maze of corridors, a few stairs and lots of sections...

I had in fact been here before, 5 years ago with the same people. So, very simply my best friend's brother loves this place and when you get treated you say 'Thank You'. The atmosphere is typical of a country village Inn, which of course it is. Food definitely good, very good in fact. It isn't cheap pub food, but...

On the recommendation of Bill Bryson in his latest book 'The road to Little Dribbling' we decided to stay at The Bear as part of a trip to The Brecon Beacons. It was superb in every aspect from the welcome by the super friendly staff to the quality of the food and superb accommodation. We had a lovely courtyard room...

I stayed in one of the court yard rooms for a couple of days, the room was really spacious and nice, the staff were really friendly and welcoming. They have a great menu for breakfast with really good food as well as a bar with a great atmosphere. Overall I felt really comfortable throughout my stay.

We stayed at The Bear again for this year's Crickhowell Walking Festival and, once again, we were not disappointed. The welcome was warm, the room spacious and comfortable, and the food outstanding. My only criticism is the lack of a loo brush in the bathroom! Apart from that it was excellent and I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I stayed at The Bear with another couple for one night to celebrate my birthday. We had eaten at The Bear on many occasions but had not stayed before. Our rooms were in the courtyard a very short distance from the main building which has a covered walkway from the main building. The rooms are large and...

I have stayed numerous times in Crickhowell at various B&B's and Hotels. I have previously eaten at The Bear but hadn't, until now, stayed there. The Hotel and bar have plenty of charm and character and I must say probably the creakiest floors I've ever walked on! This did cause a bit of disturbance from the room above mine at...

First impressions are good, very cosy bar, good ales and a good general ambience to the hotel. Room was also well equipped and recently refurbished. Unfortunately our evening meal was very disappointing- sirloin steak arrived without a steak knife. Unfortunately it was so tough I was unable to cut into it with a standard knife. Complained to waiter, replacement steak...
