We visited here for a festive afternoon tea. We were a party of 9 and had lovely cosy seats reserved around the log fire. The grounds are beautiful with a stunning drive of approx 1 mile to the hotel. The staff were very friendly and the afternoon tea was served buffet style. A good range of sandwiches were served together...

We were guests of our close friends who had just been married in Brecon and had booked the Gliffaes for a set lunch for twelve friends. I live in Crickhowell and enjoy eating out a minimum of once a week but had never been to the Gliffaes now I know why. Set lunch for me was herring and potato followed...

We were travelling on business and booked just one night at this hotel despite reading some poor reviews. The place is gorgeous. Surrounded by some extraordinary old trees, stunning views and hoards of silly pheasants who just wander around with no care in the world. Our room was huge, warm and extremely comfortable with the best pillows ever in a...

Stunning location inside the Brecon Beacons national park and the building itself is also superb as it consists of an old fashioned and grandiose country house with all the original fittings, wood panelling and grand traditional fireplaces. As you might expect, it is furnished to match and and the entire atmosphere is brilliant. The food and table service are also...

Booked a night for a birthday celebration and what a treat! Gorgeous country and river surroundings just grab wellies from the welly basket in the boot room! Peaceful with great staff, you're very well looked after by unobtrusive staff. Served fabulous evening meal in front of the open fire. Highly recommend

I think you can tell this place has been in private hands for many years. They say the 'feel' of a place starts at the top, and the proprietors were in discreet evidence throughout, with informal authority leading to a friendly and helpful approach from all staff. The hotel has a lovely quiet setting in extensive grounds along the river...

One of the most beautiful locations on Earth. Surrounded by the most stunningly beautiful autumn colors, trees that take your breath away, pheasant and other beautiful birds, sheep grazing in sloping meadows, the rush of the river below...the closest I have come to living inside of a stunningly beautiful dream. Lovely hotel, staff, food, rooms. Perfection.

We visited Gliffaes in August with friends from England. This is a stunning location, overlooking a fast-rushing river (I forget the name) with facilities for salmon fishing. Our room was very comfortable and beautifully furnished, and it was quiet and peaceful. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and the food was very nice all around. It is a fairly...

We had visited here a few months ago for Afternoon Tea, and can remember having been impressed by the "grand" atmosphere of the old building and the tranquility so we were very much looking forward to our return. It didn't disappoint we went on the guided "Woodland walk and Sunday Lunch". The scenery was breathtaking and with James knowledge we...

We spent two nights at the hotel in room 6 which has a balcony and a wonderful view of the valley and the river. We loved it - it's in the middle of nowhere which gives it the feel of a country house gathering. Apart from walking in the lovely grounds and eating good food there's nothing you feel you...
