Excellent family run hotel which provided a splendid Christmas break for family of 12 ranging in age from 10 to 75. Efficient and friendly staff contributed to an enjoyable 3 day break culminating in an unusual entertaining party on Christmas Evening. Choice of 3 beautifully seasonally decorated bar and sitting rooms with open fires There are plenty of walks in...

Staying at Gliffaes proved a wonderful experience. It was like being a guest in a stunning private country house. The staff and owners work really hard to make things just right. The house, gardens, rooms and food were exceptional. We were a group of 4 and we all found it to be a lovely experience. It is so relaxing, we...

Took our extended family here for afternoon tea between Christmas and New Year and had a very cosy afternoon sat by the open fire. Afternoon tea is informal - a table is laid out with sandwiches, scones and cakes and you just pop up and help yourself. Tea and coffee are served in the same room and the small plates...

I loved this hotel. A warm welcome from the receptionist. taken up to our room and given a bit of a guided tour on the way. The bedroom was small but I had booked a 'small double'. Beautiful toiletries, great selection of teas, good hairdryer and a radio !. The tap water is from their own spring and tasted delicious....

We have been coming to the Gliffaes for many years and as ever enjoyed our recent stay immensely. This is a family-run country house hotel, where we have always found the welcome and service very warm (especially for our 5 year old boy), the rooms very comfortable, the food good value and the setting stunning of course. We wish we...

We had been really looking forward to post Christmas break at this "luxury" hotel but were so disappointed. It seems to be staff-led, ie run for the benefit of the staff rather than the customers. There is no welcoming atmosphere and noone seems to be managing it. Other than the location, there was nothing positively nice or luxurious about it....

Decided to book for dinner in the restaurant as a treat due to it being so close to Christmas. I live quite near to the hotel and have never visited but have heard excellent things about the Gliffaes hotel. Upon arrival I found the parking quite confusing. It appears you find a spot anywhere and leave your car so I...

Booked afternoon tea for my aging mother and the family. Shown into the bar from reception and told that we had to go back through reception and into another two different rooms to get tea and food. Arriving 5 minutes early the tea and food was not yet served. Then left to our own to decide when to do the...

This hotel is so tucked away that it will not be found by accident! We were there as part of a like minded group who had come for a celebratory meal. Reception was very efficient , our room was excellent, if a bit cold, when we arrived, this was quickly sorted. We had a room in "the cottage" which was...

This is a beautiful hotel, family run, set in the amazing Welsh countryside; it is tucked away from the main road and is a haven of peace and tranquility. A warm welcome awaits you at Reception (which for us displayed a huge Christmas tree by the side of the desk whose height reached almost to the first floor!). There are...
