Sanctuary Chief’s Camp has twelve luxury bush pavilions, all with their own private decks as well as both indoor and outdoor showers. When visiting Sanctuary Chief’s Camp you’ll see why Conde Nast Traveler consistently rates it as one of the top safari destinations in Botswana. The camp is part of the magazine’s exclusive “Platinum Circle” in recognition of its inclusion in the prestigious Gold List for the last five consecutive years. The split-level main deck offers expansive views over the floodplain while the lower level of the deck houses an exquisite swimming pool to cool off after a day of exciting game viewing. The main area houses a bar, curio shop, library reception and dining area. For a rejuvenating pampering session, choose from a range of treatments at the camp’s treatment room. The twelve guest pavilions are nestled in a jackalberry and sausage tree woodland that is characteristic of the area. Each guest pavilion boasts an indoor and outdoor shower, a spacious seating area and a private game viewing deck overlooking the surrounding floodplains of the Okavango Delta. Sumptuous four poster beds with generously draped mosquito nets and traditional ceiling fans also feature and for your convenience, the rooms are equipped with a hairdryer, ceiling fan, room safe, emergency intercom and minibar.

This was the second of our three stays in Sanctuary Retreat Camps (each for three nights) and this time we were in a Luxury Pavilion with a private plunge pool; we had a dip every afternoon and it was ‘refreshing’ and wonderful. Our accommodation was excellent with a/c and fans, a deep bath overlooking the pool and huge deck area with sun loungers and seating/table area. We also had both indoor and outdoor showers. Fabulous. “Shoutout” to all Sanctuary Retreats for their gorgeous toiletries … cruelty free … “Healthy Earth”. We were a short walk (no. 6 Meno) from the general area, which was very tasteful and with plenty of seating options. There was also a general pool which we didn’t use as we had our own one, but our private dinner was served by it one night which was very special. The lovely dining area overlooking their traditional Braai area and it was perfect for sundowners 🍸🍸. We also enjoyed four Safari Jeep tours with Sky during our three days and all were excellent with so much wildlife. Sky was a fabulous guide/driver with amazing eyesight! who found plenty of lions, elephants, giraffes, etc., etc. We also had excellent massages with Keeme, highly recommended to take some time out from the ‘bouncing jeeps’ and relax. Thanks to Lops and his great team for all their attention, friendliness, and service. A truly fabulous stay and, in our hearts, top of the list for our three stays.

Wow! What a place! The accommodation is luxurious. We would be woken by baboons on the roof, squabbling. The staff are all 'customer driven'. It is all about us, the customer. The location is out of this world. We couldn't get to our room one afternoon because there was an elephant blocking the entrance and eating the bark from a tree! The food is top quality and plentiful and 'fully inclusive' means just that. We stayed for a few days previously at the sister camp 'Sanctuary Bains' about 50 KM from Chief's and this too was amazing. Our guides at both camps, Max and Chief were both great. Very knowledgeable and would again put the customer first " What animals would you like to see today?". You are able to get so close to the animals and we saw lots of great things going on in the wild. Had a remarkable holiday and would thoroughly recommend this.

I will run out of superlatives by the time I’ve finished this review. This was about the most amazing place we’ve ever stayed on our many international trips. We loved everything about this magical camp. The main lodge is beautifully appointed with a view over grasslands and a watering hole where we watched many different animals come to drink or wallow in the mud there. Our ‘room’ was an individual building with thatched roof in the African style. It was incredibly spacious with every convenience imaginable, even two showers – one indoor and one outdoor. Although it was cold at night, we had our own heating system and the electric blanket on the bed as well as luxurious bedding meant we slept soundly despite the background noise of animals occasionally interacting outside. I thoroughly enjoyed my spa treatment with the lovely Kami. She gave the best back massage I’ve ever had. The food was extraordinary – so good and so much of it and always served with dazzling smiles. We saw some amazing things on safari with our wonderful guide Martin. There were lots of lions and they came so close to the truck, but we felt perfectly safe at all times. There were giraffes, elephants, hippos, impala, kudu and other antelopes, a multitude of birds (so many species), mongooses and even a monitor lizard. A highlight was finding the rarely seen wild dogs with their distinctive coats – each one is different. I can’t say enough good things about the staff who went above and beyond to make our stay not just enjoyable, but so memorable with many ‘wow’ moments throughout the time we were there. They sang on our arrival and waited on us hand and foot at every opportunity. So much attention to detail and so warm and kind. When we went on the mokoro boat trip (highly recommended), they even set up seating, an umbrella, champagne and nibbles on the water’s edge. It was very special. I have forgotten some of the names, but huge thanks to the wonderful manager Lops, his fabulous deputy Catherine and Wame, Tshidi, Girlie, Lolly, Connie, Bonnie, Gao and Anoli (sorry if I’ve forgotten anybody – you were all fantastic!). I wish I could give this place 10 out of 10 stars as they are off-the-charts amazing. Highly recommended – you MUST go!

The amount of game we saw with our excellent guide, Norriah, was unbelievable. So many lions! Norriah was able to time our arrivals and to position us perfectly for fabulous photo and video opportunities. The camp offered way too much delicious food! Not a place to adhere to any kind of weight loss diet, for sure. Dining with elephants, impala, warthogs, baboons, and hyenas every day in front of painted skies was unforgettable.

This was the best of the Camps we stayed in Botswana. Three nights filled with superb safari, scrumptious food and an professional team. What struck us the most was the attitude of the management and the staff---throughout our stay at the Sanctuary camps, all the staff played multiple roles. The guides helped with the cleaning up and escort duties, the wait staff doubled up behind the bar and the managers had no problems delivering room service or provide security at night. And all this with a smile ! Hard to remember everyone but Michelle and Gerad---a great camp and well run. Tim and Martin you guys are so knowledgable And thank you all

Sanctuary Chief's Camp was our first camp/stop during a 3 week tour of Botswana and Zambia. We had stayed at nearly every Sanctuary camp in Uganda, Kenya & Tanzania, so we knew that we were in for an amazing experience, but Sanctuary Chief's Camp took it to a whole new level. We have been planning this trip for over three years (thank you COVID) and the reservation people at Sanctuary could not have been more accommodating or helpful. In fact, they actually upgraded us to the Kent Suite while here at Canctuary Chief's Camp for our two nights and that experience alone made our vacation. The camp is exceptionally beautiful and well laid out with a central "lobby/restaurant" camp/tent and then individual cabins spanning out on each side. The Kent Suite was the last cabin down the row, with an amazing view of the mud pits and local watering hole. We were immediately greeted in our cabin by a family of elephants playing in the mud...an amazing first sight! The entire facility is amazing and exceptionally well maintained. The rooms are beyond spacious, with every possible amenity that anyone could want. The food at every meal out did the one before and all were beautifully prepared, exquisitely presented and perfectly balanced with favor and spices. But what truly separates Sanctuary Chief's Camp from all of the other camps available in the area is the staff. It starts at the top with Bonnie and Basadi, the managers who greeted us (along with the chorus) when we immediately arrived. They both was terrific! Katherine, the night manager was equally as wonderful...professional, friendly and always available. Our waitresses, Tisidi and Connie were excellent. They knew the menus like the back of their hands and always had great suggestions of what items on the menu were the best (a difficult decision at every meal). Monk, the bartender, was always at hand, ready for a refreshing cocktail after a game drive (or sometimes ON a game drive!) We had some amazing spa appointments with Ver, who gave us both massages...and we agreed that they were probably the best massages we've ever had. And then there are the animals and the drives. The sightings and experiences were simply amazing and exceeded our wildest dreams. The professionalism and sighting of the animals, as well as the excellent handling of the vehicles and (ultimately) our safety rested in the hands of Noria, who was beyond excellent. His knowledge, friendly personality and excellent skills made our vacation at Sanctuary Chief's Camp a life-long memory. Thank you to everyone at the Camp for an experience that we beyond fantastic and one that we will treasure forever. We hope to be able to come back and visit again...and soon!

We had an amazing few nights at the camp enjoying the tranquil location with access to everything safari has to offer. The room was beautiful- spacious and private with attentive staff. Our guide Carter was excellent and did a fantastic job of helping us see a wide range of animals from the big cats to birds. The picnic by the river and seeing the wild dig hunt were highlights

Chief's Camp was the fourth Sanctuary camp we stayed at and it maintained our high expectations of the Sanctuary properties. Both Michele and Gerard were wonderful hosts. Our 'room' was comfortable and spacious with a huge deck and plunge pool where we could watch the elephants walk by. The food and service were top notch. Our guide, Nouriha, was passionate about his work and the animals and it showed. Since we had already been on safari 6 days, we had seen a tremendous amount of wildlife, but Nouriha searched and searched and showed us things we never even dreamed of seeing, such as 2 different leopards, a family of cheetas and a mother lion with her 3 cubs. Everyone at the camp was incredible!

Our 3-week safari adventure began at Chief's Camp. The warm welcome from the choir and all the staff set the tone for the rest of our stay. Imagine our surprise when Bonnie, one of the amazing managers, walked us to our room to find out that we had been upgraded to the Geoffrey Kent suite! It was massive and is essentially 2 rooms joined together by a common lounge complete with bar and catering kitchen, enormous outdoor seating area and dining table and its own boma (fire pit). Throughout out stay we were treated like kings, including a special performance by the choir to present us with a birthday cake which we ended up sharing with all the guests. It was a spectacular evening (they all were!). It's the little touches like that which set Chiefs Camp to a higher level of service, hospitality and professionalism, Our guide, Nouriha, was phenomenal! What an amazing tracker/spotter. Every day we challenged him to find a particular animal (lion, leopard, cheetah, etc.) and every day he delivered! He was awesome! Food at Chief's was outstanding and the service we received from Connie, Tsidi, Monk and all the dining room/kitchen staff was exemplary. Ver's massage in the spa was perfect as well. Rati, the boutique Manager, couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and welcoming. Of course high praise also goes to Basadi and Katherine, two of the camps exceptional managers who set the standard for what genuine hospitality is about. In every category across the board Chiefs Camp gets the highest marks. They set an incredibly high bar for the camps we would subsequently visit. Bravo Chiefs Camp team!

We were a party of four staying at Chiefs for five nights - from the moment we arrived we had nothing but excellent service from a team of happy, smiling and thoughtful staff. The manager, Basadi and our guide, Chief, get special praise for going the extra mile. We too loved the Braai (which we were lucky enough to have twice due to a four day rota) and the 'build your own pizza' lunch was exceptional. We saw more wildlife than we could possibly hope for - Lions a plenty, Leopard, Cheetah and as many Elephant, Giraffe, Buffalo etc as you could ever want. The staff spoilt us from dawn to dusk and we were truly sad to leave. Being serenaded by the staff 'choir' on the occasion of a birthday was wonderful and unique.
