What a fantastic place to be whilst in the desert. It has an outdoor pool, a bar and an Arabic Bedouin camp further out in the desert too. It is a calm relaxed place to be after a long motorcycle tour of Morocco. A true Oasis at a reasonable price. Beware it was 40 degrees in May

As part of a Moroccan tour on motorcycles, in May 2016, five of us descended upon this wonderful hotel. The only access, (then), was by way of dirt roads way from the beaten track. We stayed for two nights, the first at their bivouac some half an hour into the dunes with a late night campfire and the wonder of...

We stayed here as a part of our trip to the desert and the dunes. If you want desert experience, this is an excellent location, as it is in the middle of nowhere in the desert (only gravel road leads to here). Other kasbahs and accommodations in the area are all located near the dunes or Merzouga, but you are...

I use a British Guide for the desert section of my all-ladies trips to Morocco and he says this is the best place to stay when you go down to the desert. Despite it being rather ‘tired’ and in need of a bit of an overhaul, my group still loved it. It’s very cosy and funky with excellent food. The...

We really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was very well prepared and a nice change from the Moroccan cuisine. The steak was a very good cut and very delicious. The service was outstanding. The desert we had was like an apple tart and was very delicious. The deserts in Morocco do not seem to be overly sweet.

If you are travelling to Merzouga you must use this hotel! Have tried the accommodation close to the Erg Chebbi dunes on a previous visit it was soon apparent that this area was hugely over-commercialised. The AKD offers a more distant alternative in a tranquil setting, away from the camel rides and hawkers. Bouchra and Said are fantastic hosts, combining...

I stayed here with a group for two nights as part of a birdwatching tour in April 2013. The rooms are variable, but otherwise it was excellent. The dinners and breakfast were waiter served and we particularly enjoyed the tagine dinners. The grounds were wonderfully shaded with a number of seats on which to relax. The waiters and cleaners were...

Derkaoua is a fabulous place to stay, whilst exploring the desert. The service is excellent, the rooms clean and very comfortable and the food is second to none, in the area. It is a few kilometers off the main road and across sand so the desert adventure starts before you even arrive. Once there you are warmly greeted and shown...
