The rooms are very nice, clean and well appointed. The tv wasn't very clear and not many channel options but we didn't spend much time in the room so this wasn't a problem. Free wifi worked well. Staff always friendly and accommodating. Perfect base for a holiday in Mossel Bay and within walking distance to the harbor.

Dear NeetsDegi Thank you for the recommendation, much appreciated! Mossel Bay being half-way between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth does make it the perfect spot from which to explore the rest of the Garden Route. Excellent Service all around, warm welcome from staff! Selfcatering apartment was great, lots of space for a family of four. Kids had a mini jumping castle, safe place to play. Turn down service was a definite treat with Easter Eggs and a personalized note. Would definitely visit there again. Downside was you had to pay for basement parking, per day....

In this relatively small village, the Protea is probably the best place to be. Without any request nor surcharge, we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite (though I guess not many Presidents will frequent this place..). We had a huge apartment incl kitchenette to our disposal. Absolutely fabulous. The restaurant is renowned and always fully booked. Pool area is less...

As per title Protea Group seldom dissapoints. Great value, location and view from room patio. Staff friendly from reception through to concierge etc. Outsourced Restaurant a little pricey and better value can be obtained elsewhere.

At first glance the hotel looks very dated, but on entry to the garden, it transforms, we had a very modern room, all mod cons, straight opposite the restaurant, the food and service was excellent, wine list very comprehensive, and not silly prices. great views and facilities, and busy but not that it affected the service. excellent.
