We stayed 6 nights during our honeymoon trip, after another 6 days of Safari. This place, and the island of Mafia, went beyond our expectation. The structure is held by an Italian woman, Laura, who is very kind, caring and attentive, surrounded by local assistants, especially Atu and Macame, 2 guys who I want to mention above all. the lodge...

Beautiful setting, with staff that really go out of their way to help you. Special mention to their local assistant manager, Abi. He even sourced a new phone charger for me from town, after a red squirrel bit through the cable of mine! Only reasons it's a 4* is that we were there just before peak season, so the pool...

This is a really cool place on this earth. It is not for everyone, though. But if you are made for it, then it is paradise. Don't expect a super 5 star luxury. It is a different kind of luxury altogether. It is an off the beaten path luxury, without the trappings of the material world. It is in many...

I visited here with three friends. We arrived on motorbikes, dusty and muddy after an eventful and wet journey and could not have received a warmer welcome. The pool was most welcome and beautifully kept, the service was friendly, efficient and friendly. The whole place exudes understated class, and is well maintained. Very NIce!

We had a super stay. Very relaxing with beautiful views (the beach is particularly stunning at night). Laura and her team went out of their way to cater to our group and delivered on all fronts. The bandas were lovely, the only real downside was unusually, according to what we were told, there were a fair few mosquitoes lurking in...

After 8 days of safari we could not have chosen better for 5 days total relaxation. Having stayed in tented camps on safari we didn't want to move to a mainstream beach hotel on Zanzibar and Ras Mbisi just ticked every box for us. The bandas provided perfect posh glamping accomodation rather like safari but with the wonderful sounds of...

My wife and I stayed at Ras Mbisi lodge for 4 nights in early Oct 2014 as the final stop on our honeymoon that started with Safari in South Tanzania and a short trip to Zanzibar in between. We were met by the manager, Laura, on arrival and were treated to a complementary drink in the bar with an introduction...

Had 4 days in Selous, 4 days in Ruaha on camping safaris and then finished our trip with 4 days on Mafia at Ras Mbisi. All staff very welcoming and helpful. Banda was very comfortable, exactly as pictured. The white sandy beach so close, gardens very well kept, food excellent with three course lunches and four course dinners. Varied fixed...

There are pros and cons to staying at this property depending on the goals of your trip. The beautiful relatively deserted beaches of white sand that stretch for miles should appeal to all and swimming is safe. if beach time is your main goal then this alone may make your stay here worthwhile . And there is a pool as...

“It seemed that all the huts were the same. Their distance from the main building is an individual preference. We were in a hut farther away, and really enjoyed the walk back under the starlight magnificent sky every night. An additional treat.”

“Rooms near the wood boiler (for heating water) can be smokey. Rooms farthest from main lodge may have staff loitering in front of them - ruining sense of privacy.”

“All Bandas are great with sea view”
GolfnSpa, 8 Jan 2014 | Read review
“All bandas are facing the ocean. However, some are set back a little further and as a result have less of a wide open view. Ask for a banda that is set closer to the beach if the uninterrupted view is important to you (and what a view it is).”
