I'm pleased we chose Ngororgoro Serena for 2 nights--our balcony overlooking the Crater made the otherwise-ordinary hotel well worth the price. In addition, the close-in location meant our driver/guide could access sites in the Crater more easily--saving the 45 minute drive from outside the park.

I stayed there for one night and my experience was so fantastic. I wish I could get back and add some nights. Per my check in I was warmly welcomed by the receptionists who gave me a glass of juice. After all the processes, I was escorted to my room by one of the staff who explained everything to me...

This lodge is on the rim and has spectacular views. Also the fabulous architecture thinking behind this building is amazing by using local stones etc and does not interfere with nature. Absolutely beautiful. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and cosy. Wifi also available in your room at a stable speed. The staff were really friendly and always smiling. Rates...

We stayed here for 2 nights, overlooking the crater with amazing views. There is game grazing around the lodge so it hard to believe you are in a lodge with other guests. Meals offered were good and staff friendly.

I wish I could snap my fingers right now and be back at the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge. Not only are the views absolutely breathtaking, everyone who works there is super friendly and welcoming. If I ever find myself back in that part of the world, accomodations will be a no brainer.

High on the rim of th Ngorongor crater this lodge provides the perfect setting for your safari trip. The rooms are good, the restaurant excellent and the view of the crater glorious from very room. The architecture of the building is uniquely built from natural, local stone so that it blends perfectly into the surroundings.

We were delighted that our tour brought us to Serena. The hotel design, overlooking the crater and blending in beautifully with the surroundings, was wonderful. Our room was super-clean and well-furnished. Food was more than adequate, and service was up to standard; sorry if others didn't have such a good experience.

Each room has a fantastic view as the hotel curves around the crater edge. Remember that this is at an high altitude which means it's COLD outside especially at night! Bring something warm. Staff put hot water bottles on your bed each night. We found the staff excellent and the food very good too. There is a complimentary tea and...

This is an ideal place to stay when visiting the Ngorongoro Crater. The close vicinity to the decent ramp ensures that your early morning game drive is readily accessible. Each room has a view of the crater which is very relaxing at sunset even though the sun is at your back. The facilities are excellent and the restaurant has quite...

The Best location in relation to the Gate in the Park. Excellent view. And that's it. Staff not interested. Food... rooms clean, but... To conclusion: Boring and bad- but beautiful! Serena should Invest to leverage!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perched on the jagged rim of the crater, wreathed in morning mist, camouflaged in river-stone and cloaked in indigenous creepers, the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from its environment whilst affording endless vistas over the heat-shimmering reaches of the crater below, the clustered boulder-built buildings of the Lodge hug the crater rim, linked by rope-lashed timber walkways that skirt the buttressed roots of ancient, liana-hung trees. ... more   less
