The lodge is inside the conservation area, right by the crater. If you have a pair of good binoculars you can see the elephants from your room balcony. Though the place does get cold in the night, they have a nice fireplace in the bar where they have some Masai cultural programs every evening. The service is great and the...

The hotel is amazing. It has the perfect location with a beautiful view of the crater. The crater is visible from almost every room. The food is also good. The rooms are spacious and clean and have balcony where one can relax. The staff always greet you with a smile and is helpful.

This hotel is promoted as a "luxury" lodge and I would have to rate is more as a higher end mid range. Rooms were okay but no a/c making it quite stuffy during the night. Service and food was average. If you are looking for a solid 3.5 star lodge, this is your place. It isn't too far from the...

Best views of all the places that we stayed during our 15 days! Nightly entertainment. We were use to seeing the maasai dancers but also got to see the acrobats at this location! Dinner was served to us from a menu!! Which was a nice change after 12 days of buffet. Rooms were comfy!

After staying 5 nights in tented camps before Serena, a nice room with a long hot shower sounded great! We found both at Serena! Serena delivered on its promise of being an upscale safari lodge that does not break the bank. The setting is stunning and world class. You open your windows and sit on a balcony overlooking Ngorongoro Crater....

This hotel sits atop the crater and had breathtaking views from every room. The dining hall had an amazing panoramic view of the crater that can be enjoyed over dinner or just a drink. The rooms are very big and the bathroom was quite a sight. The shower in each room is big enough for 10 people and a queen...

Stayed for 2 nights on our Safari. There was traditional Masai singing and dancing one of the evenings and an African acrobat show the following night. Extremely cold which made for a beautifully filled foggy crater in the mornings. Only downfall was that the showers were only lukewarm and when it was so cold a hot shower would have been...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perched on the jagged rim of the crater, wreathed in morning mist, camouflaged in river-stone and cloaked in indigenous creepers, the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge is a triumph of ecological and architectural fusion. Sensitively constructed so as to take nothing from its environment whilst affording endless vistas over the heat-shimmering reaches of the crater below, the clustered boulder-built buildings of the Lodge hug the crater rim, linked by rope-lashed timber walkways that skirt the buttressed roots of ancient, liana-hung trees. ... more   less
