The man in the reception was very rude and arrogant. There was no AC room though they said available. Technically, there was AC in the room but not cooling at all. I changed room three times but ACs in the all rooms were same condition and outside was even cooler than inside. I decided to stay non AC room and... More

I read the previous review, and with hesiation went to ashby hotel. was very suprised to note that rooms were big, neat and with heritage looks, garden and heard that it is under new management which has taken pain to improve the ancient hotel with ancient look preserved and the teak furniture gives the hotel a majestic look..

Ok for a night. They let me put my bicycle in my room. Supplied my own mossie net. Bucket wash as no shower head. Clean towel and an extra sheet. 830rs. Helped me out with a route into Kerala and the hills. Good food for a hungry cyclist meant I did,nt have to brave the bus station for a feed.... More

We had booked one double room and one deluxe room for 4/12/2014 to 5/12/2014. In both the rooms toilet was horrible, water was clogging, no hot water at all. cleanliness is big zero.Towels are so stinky and our experience was really a night mare.

I'm writing this review from my room in the hotel. My stay is for 3 nights and I'll be checking out tomorrow. I had come to the city of Tiruchirapalli to attend an official training at income tax department. I checked in here as it is close to both my training unit as well as the railway station. And that's... More

I spent a couple of nights here. It was very cheap, extremely convenient and had a certain old fashioned style to it, that is rapidly disappearing in India. It was minutes from the central bus station, which made it very handy for finding in the evening, when I arrived from a long bus journey from Pondicherry. Transport to the airport... More

We never saw a hotel like this... It was so terrible dirty, nothing worked, there where cockroaches all around. Unbelieveble!! We pre-booked for two days, but left after the first night (getting money back). The room wasn't been cleaned, so we had dirty sheets, very old towels. It was bloody hot, noisy, awful. All the equipment was broken, incomplete, out... More

Having read the reviews I got exactly what I expected and indeed wanted. Cheap, scruffy however a building with character which would surely have been magnificent in its day and could be again with investment. In the meantime I found the location good, room large and plumbing and a/c etc positevly creaking however adequate. It really does depend what you... More

You can tell that this hotel had character and class in its heyday. Unlike most hotels in India, this is full of architectural details, solid wooden furniture, and a caring staff. However, the hotel is in dire need of upkeep. I believe that renovations are under way, but let's see how things turn out. It's certainly more quiet than other... More

I arrived in Trichy on a Saturday in March, and found that many hotels were "sold out" (because of "weddings", I was told). So I ended up at the Ashby. The place is a dump (in fairness, it might be because they are doing renovations). And what was worse, my non-AC room (on the ground floor) was infested with bedbugs.... More
