Recommended on the Lonely Planet for staying before going to kawa Ijen, worst decision of our lives. Bed, bathroom, floors, cups and glasses were all dirty. Sheets seem never seem to be changed/washed, full of stain and hair. The cup and glasses on the room were all dirty with coffe/tea stains on it. Toilet and shower, all black. We complain...

Just don't bother! Roach infested filth pit. Massively overpriced "VIP" rooms with filthy beds. Sheets are stained, floors have dirt and hair everywhere. There were 3 dead roaches under the beds and they were being eaten by the live ones! Mosquitoes kept coming even with a coil burning. We were told the VIP rooms were the only ones available, but...

We went to this hotel because it was recommended by the Lonely Planet. Economy rooms are not essentially bad, but sheets seem to be never changed, albeit the presence of bedbugs! The rooms are not that cheap, I would not recommend this address.

Actually we have chosen this hotel just cause it was recommended in the lonely planet and we were going to arrive in banyuwangi in late afternoon and haven't booked anything yet. I don't recommend it to anyone cause the bedsheets were so dirty and there were insects walking on us during the night, it was impossible to sleep there. Staff...

We stayed there a few hours before going up the ijen. We chose the hotel based on the description in lonely planet and the room was booked through the guy who organized the trip for us. The description made in the lonely planet isn't accurate anymore at all. Most unfriendly staff I ever met, even when trying to address them...

This is easily one of the worst places I have ever stayed. The key for the room didn't work. The staff didn't know how to do their jobs. There were ants all over the place. The beds were uncomfortable and the bathroom door didn't lock. The sheets on my bed had stains and didn't look like they had been changed...

We stayed here for three nights, and decided to take one of the more high-priced rooms. We had airco and hot-shower, but the room was very dirty. It was literally full of mosquito's. Luckily, we had our own mosquito nets with us. Also, we saw some cockroaches and other small beetles. The hotel does organise trips to Ijen, that include...

Dirty and stuffy - avoid if at all possible. Not sure why lonely planet would recommend it. Shower floods the entire bathroom floor and doesnt get dry as there is no ventilation. Dirty walls, dirty bedding, dirty everything.

Do not go to Hotel Baru. It is dirty, expensive, they do not have sheets, they do toilets the old fashioned way. The mattresses have little holes. The ashtray is the most dirty ashtray you would ever see. It is just not worth it. Also, I heard a rumour of bedbugs. We didn't experience it in our 'cell', but hey,...
