The driver told us this hotel is only 4 months old and maybe they are not completely finish their project as in front of the gate there is some left over from construction which has not been cleaned yet. When we check-in the receptionist was helpful and courteous.
When we entered the room (#17255) it was smelled. I think it was from the drain in the bathroom, they should close the room to fix the problem otherwise it will create bad reputation for the hotel..

Despite the smell, the room was ok, no window, TV only shows local channel but it's ok, we spent most days outside anyway and had a good sleep.

The choice of breakfast is limited. They provide bread, butter (local product - Blue Band) and butter. No egg station but you can ask the staff to make an egg of your choice (sunny side up or boiled or omelette). Their food is tasty and at reasonable prices. But if you don't like spicy food, make sure to tell them when you order. In fact after the whole day out, we chose to eat at the hotel. We saw many outside guests had their meal, it seems that due its location, it becomes a good meeting place for local people.

Despite the downside, I would still recommend this hotel to stay while exploring the city of Banda Aceh and nearest town.

We stayed here for one night after diving in Pulau Weh. Very friendly staff checked us in super early, room was very clean, we got to enjoy breakfast right after check-in (so in essence we got two breakfasts with one night stay). Place was quiet and the bed comfortable. The one drawback was the water temperature was very tough to regulate and soon as I'd get it warm, it would turn scalding and then back to cold.

Staff were super nice though - they arranged a pickup car to take us to the airport early in the morning, packed us a boxed breakfast to take (without having to be reminded), and were just overall kind. If you have a bit of time to spend in Banda Aceh, I'd definitely recommend checking them out. Agoda had some crazy discounts available.

A family of four, we stayed here 1 night before leaving for Medan. The hotel still looks quite new and the rooms are basic, but overall clean. Ours did not have a window, which was a shame. So be sure to ask for one with window if that's important to you. The staff was friendly as far as we can judge after such a short stay. We only had breakfast and it was good enough for just once. In summary, even though there is always potential for improvement, it is a good deal for Banda Aceh and we would recommend it.

For a laid back town without any 5 star branded hotel that I can find, 17 Hotel provides a nice and clean environment for international travellers who are looking for comfort and cleanliness. The front office staff are very helpful and they have a driver, Darwin who will take you around town to places like the Tsunami Museum and Lampuuk Beach.

The room was small but it’s ok for one night. Pretty clean. Breakfast was good.
The only disappointment is the driver was late to pick us up. He finally showed up 15 min before the ferry departs. We really thought we were gonna miss the ferry. He drove cfazily it wasn’t safe at all. Fortunately we could get on the ferry however it was very unprofessional.

We stayed here only one night before our flight. The hotel is only a year old so quite new.
The ladies at the reception were young and looked inexperienced. One of the first thing they asked if we could give a review on Booking.com. We booked a standard room which seemed to have no windows and was small but ok. The bathroom was not really clean.
As there were almost no other guests and you have to promote your hotel I would have given a free upgrade to generate some positive reviews.
The breakfast was included in the price but was not what we expected: some rice and vegetables that where warmed for several hours, two kinds of fresh fruit, toast with fake marmalade. Behind the table with the fruit a girl was counting money for ten minutes and not paying any attention to the guests.
In my opinion you have to serve a proper breakfast or let the customer choose and let them pay.
For €28 per night we found this hotel far overpriced.
