We traveled to the Royalton Bavaro over Thanksgiving 2023. The resort was beautiful and exceeded our expectations based on the pictures/videos we saw on the website. Our butler, Delvis, was amazing and went out of his way to ensure we had a great trip and even checked in to make sure we made it home safely. The food also exceeded our expectations. My son gives a huge shout out to the gentleman that served him pizza every night at the buffet for his 4th meal of the day. We also want to give a shout out to Fernando, who made sure we never had an empty drink while watching our favorite sports team at the Scores bar. In regards to the drinks, the pina coladas and Miami vices were out of this world, but the rest of the drinks were just slightly above average, like we have had at other resorts. For families wondering if this is the right resort for you, as parents of two active children, we would highly recommend this resort. We look forward to someday returning.

First off, the resort was nice, not great, but nice. Diamond club really made the experience. Staff was great and friendly. Be aware If traveling to this resort with young ones, it seems like hand foot mouth is still active. We are still dealing with this infection back home. Nothing major, but this did infect the young kids day 4 of the trip and had some high fevers and blisters and the kids were miserable for the rest of the trip. We cleaned and wiped everything down we could, but still contracted it.

Kids club was excellent, at first we were not sure about dropping them off as they may feel like they miss all other resort activities. But they loved it and wanted to go back! We did part days over our week depending on the kids club activity schedule. The kids club staff were great with kids, they played games, braided their hair, crafted, went to the beach and went to the kids pools. The staff that were there were Abigail, Raquel, Dinairy, Estefani, Yaniara, Lisy - Thanks! Great resort, lots of option for eating outside of buffet on resort, buffet had lots of daily changing options too. Lots of activities lazy river is awesome, a bunch of pools for all ages, great rooms, we had a swim out pool room, wouldn't do it any other way with kids. Always different nightly activities/ shows, white party was fun!

I haven't even Been to the resort am already dreading it due to brutal customer service with the booking of the resort. It was black Friday and Cyber Monday sales this week. I booked my travel and they took my reservation pretty quick but for the promotion of COMPLIMENTARY Shuttle service, they are NOT helpful at all. Picture #1 the promotion on THEIR website. Picture #2 is the email correspondence. Email 1. Nov 28th 6:17pm Emailed the Royalton Bavara. Asking about the promotion. Reply 1. They asked me to go through NEXUS Tour Group. D/O Manuel P.. or Albis Ogando| Reservations Agent So not sure who??? wrote me. Email 2: I said I was told by Nexus Tours that I need to go through the hotel. Reply 2: No reply. So been given the RUN AROUND. ROUND 2 NexusTours Email A: Nov 30th 2:11pm I contact Nexus Tours with the same email chain, asking about the promotion and proving that I bought a reservation. Reply A: They gave me instructions that didn't exist. I booked through an agent on the phone and I did not get a promotion email to follow instructions to get this deal. So I wrote back the hotel. So who do I contact now?? When I called the HOTEL the lady said on the phone the airport round trip transportation added $30 each person. THAT is NOT the promotion of complimentary shuttle as per the deal. So alas, I am writing a review of DREADING this hotel, clearly they are not customer focused. Clearly, they are one for the NOT my problem. Have you ever been to a hotel where staff use that line. Never a good sign. Apparently this hotel has some BLUE diamond award. It is clearly not for taking care of customer concerns. Neither the website, customer service, nor the shuttle service.

The Royalton certainly had me feeling like royalty! I have never been out of the country before (from the USA) and was very nervous leading up to the trip. Our flight was so late, we landed at 2:30am. The second I walked in the door I felt relief !! The hotel lobby is gorgeous and well maintained. We did a diamond club room and had a beautiful fourth floor room facing the ocean. Our room was service twice a day and drinks were always kept aplenty. Staff is soooo friendly. Always helpful and ready to assist at any given moment. Our butler, Delvis, connected with us mid day on our first official day. He put our minds at ease and explained the perks, where everything was, the programming schedules, etc. he was phenomenal!!! We also had help from Varon, who took over as our butler for the remainder of our trip. The spa is amazing and as a diamond club member you get one hydrotherapy appointment free!! Take advantage of it. The drinks were amazing and we loved the food. Zen was so much fun and hunter steakhouse was our favorite. There was a really nice mixture of families as well as couples just looking for a relaxing getaway. The only thing I would say takes away from the beauty is the days vendors would set up tables on hotel grounds. They charged high prices on little things of jewelry or carvings. I do enjoy bringing home souvenirs but they wrangle you in by giving you a “free gift” and then tell you to just shop without giving prices on anything until the end. For two necklaces and a pendant a guy told me $400 USD. Then when you try and walk away they argue. I completely understand why they are there but I just think they would make better sales if things were priced more appropriately

Every aspect of our very fast week spent here was great. We chose a non-Diamond Club swim-up room which was nice to have, especially in the evening. We had a problem with both sinks draining slowly. 30 minutes after contacting customer service, the problem was solved. There was a good variety of food, including ribeye steak, at the supper buffet. The a-la-carte restaurants had a good variety to choose and what we ate was delicious. The room and the entire resort was spotless. The grounds are very well maintained. The beach is very nice (although we do prefer the beach in Cayo Coco Cuba much more). There are many palapas for shade, but we did find them very close together. The entertainment staff do a wonderful job of keeping those interested busy. The night-time shows are typical of any resort and the performers are excellent. Thanks to Nestor and Juan at the breakfast buffet, and to Daniel at Hunter Steakhouse. By far, the best resort we have ever been to.

To start with, I have traveled to more than 40 countries and visited a lot of many hotels both boutique style but also the ones which belong to international hotel chains. So trust me when I say I was able to visit and experience a lot. A couple of years ago we have visited Royalton in Puerto Morelos (Mexico, south of Cancun) - the whole experience was fabulous. Having remembered great time there we didn't hesitate to choose once again Royalton chain when traveling to punta cana. Below I tried to break piece by piece different elements we experienced as a family. Family of 3 11 nights Diamond Club access 1. Diamond Club - preferred rooms with better locations - worth it - dedicated check in / check out - fast & simple especially if your travel was long - worth it - reservations in a la carte restaurants - not worth it at all! despite reservation you're still expected to wait in a queue. once you get in, you can wait for a first drink even up to 50 minutes as we did - DC pool - mixed feelings, on one hand the pool is nicely located close to the beach, on the other hand you'd expect some privacy / intimacy but unless you wake at 7 a.m and go book the sunbed yourself you might end up without any place to lay down during the day. Other pools offered much more room so - not worth it - Butler - in our case 90% of the communication was regarding dinner booking only so there's no value not worth it - Alcohol choice - the same drinks in DC bars compared to other - not worth it - If you ask for let's say baileys they will try and poor random substitute so you have to keep on reminding them - not worth it - "golf car transfer" between main building and DC buildings which you can use if you're feeling tired but you have to wait even 20minutes for someone to come and pick you up - distance to travel by foot 5minutes - not worth it - flowrider - you're told you can use it freely within DC membership. it appears you can but only for one or 2 hours a day and these slots are booked by other DC members also so at the end you end up in 40 people queue and have a chance to surf one, maybe twice for 5 secs each time. if you want more you gave to pay. why not offer completely for free for people who upgraded to DC 2. Room - we had upgraded to two bedroom luxury dc ocean view room - worth it definitely, nice view, plenty of space, two bathrooms and kitchen - worth it - daily room cleaning - very well maintained but I guess this is very much linked to the employee - Isabel you did great! 3. Food - not that many options in general - very long queues - tasteless fruits, awful shrimps apparently freshly made - be carefull my family got sick after eating there (you'll find plenty of reviews regarding this issue) - the employees in restaurants are underpaid and understaffed - you'll wait long to be served with glass of water, a pint of beer or a glass of wine no to mention in you want a double - juice station - one person working there with one juice squeezer to serve a hundred people - no further comment needed - if you come after first 30/40 minutes of the restaurant being opened, you'll see no choice and many of items will not be filled in again - a la carte restaurants - you'd expect some better experience and even more tasty food there. no such thing. the lady at the zen restaurant managing the traffic sooo rude and impolite - first time experienced sth like this; italian restaurant is called grazie - well there's nothing to graze for. take for instance spicy salami pizza salami was not spicy at all, but a random bite of the pastry and cheese could not be swallowed because of the amount of pepper. Our dinner in graze lasted not very long, we left almost untouched 5 dishes, the waiter came and asked how was it, we replied back that unfortunately not very good, his reply to us was: "ok ok" - can you imagine? 4. The beach - compared to hard rock hotel pretty narrow but also pretty well maintained - better choice of sunbeds for DC members compared to DC pool - prepare to be harassed on a daily basis by local people trying to sell you anything To sum Up: DC - apart from better rooms not worth it at all Food - massive disappointment Beach - there are worse for example at royalton splash / hideaway Room - some rooms are really nice, spacious offering nice views Cleaning - thumb up Service in restaurants - terrible Service at the bars - depending on the bar but overall ok Crazy river - not many pontoons Flowrider - disaster @RoylatonManagement please spare your auto responder which is copy paste to all bad reviews. If you really read them, my review would not be so negative as many of the assessments are consequently repeated. Not coming back.
