My girlfriend and I stayed at this resort for 1 week to celebrate our anniversary. The staff surprised us with a banner across our door congratulating us and left a bottle of champagne in our room. We had an excellent time participating in various activities during our stay including Bingo with Churrasco from the animation team at the Coral Level. She was always making everyone laugh and keeping people engaged. The bartender at the Coral Level bar, Manuel, made great drinks and even got creative and made drinks up for us when we were indecisive. The service staff at the restaurants around the resort were amazing. They were incredibly accommodating for a gluten free diet. Kelvin, Piron, and Ruth always had smiles on their faces and reminded us that we had absolutely nothing to worry about while we were away, they were taking care of everything. Ramon will remember your name and make you feel special every time he sees you. Overall, we had a wonderful time during our stay. In addition to the beautiful weather and beach, the staff of the resort and their endless efforts to make us comfortable is a huge reason why we will be excited to return.

Worst vacation ever!!, first night my husband took a shower and the water ran all the way out into the hall, so he had to use towels to clean it up and to stop the water from running out the shower. The room was very hot and the fridge was not working well, the beverages were barely cold. Stayed in that room(1237) for 2 nights then we moved ourselves to another room(1304)after lobby failed to get air and fridge fixed as promised after my husbands complaint.The air in the second room was just a little bit better fridge still seemed not to work as well.Next day went well and was glad we had our room changed but had to keep ordering ice to keep our drinks cold.The next day we went to the pool upon returning to room our door was wide open with the toilet detach from wall (says they're doing work to bathroom downstairs)we than called front desk to put complaint in and asked for a supervisor to come to room to show what was going on as well; his name was Francis and said he would send complaint to lobby. Later on that day we're getting ready to have dinner the lights went out for 20 mins so we left out room to see if it was the whole resort but it was only our room! As we were going downstairs notice maintenance man coming out of electric room. We went to lobby and spoke w/ head supervisor ensured she would have all construction stopped but next morning was woke up by more noise. Next day lights went out again, We were all eaten up by bugs by end of trip! Food was not good Very sad

We stayed at resort in August for 2 weeks.On arrival we find out that our reservation didnt exist in hotel system, but it wasnt't hotel fault- it's Loveholidays messed up(as well with "private transfer"). Big thank you for Rico from reception for help with that...After nervous hour we finally get our room: spacious, with AC providing just bearable temperature, only problems relayed to room was :bad smell from sewer, mini fridge restoke 3 times during stay, despite calls and requests in reception... Bufet restaurant was open and became very hot(especialy in the evening) , even separate section with food was very hot, what makes dining very unpleasnt experience.We booked Greek, Italian , Steakhouse and Kabuki(Japanese). Italian- food was very good apart from raw mushrooms in risotto, problem was with service- we never felt so ignored during diner, we have wine glas toped up ONCE, same with water with numerous staff walking past and just ignoring us. Greek- food great and service much better than in Italian. Japanese- typical show during diner(main atraction was cathing bits of fried egg thrown by chef...) , food average- meat overcooked and dry and all taste the same(beef, chicken) and way too salty. Steakhouse- worst experience of all A'la carte restaurants there, so hot inside-AC really bad, slow service(again waiting 20 minutes for wine) ,my starter(mushrooms with meled cheese- horrible),medium steak come as well done.... After eating some seafood on lunch my wife was suffering severe stomach problems for next 2 days and have same problem in second week of our stay. Beach was infested with seaweed for most of our stay there and didnt look nice. Main pool was nice and big with swim up bar. All staff in bars was "excellente" and I couldnt praise them more-especially staff in main bar in lobby for fantastic daiquiris,mojitos and other drinks. Evening entertainment was good and some shiws and activities were nice and funny. Overall hotel looks nice and clean,but our experience with food and restaurants have disapointing impact on our stay there. Would I recommended this hotel??? If you speak Spanish and have good heat and humid tolerance together with "strong"stomach then you may liked it, otherwise look elswere .

My first time in this hotel and had a terrible experience. When we arrive at room the air condition didn't work and the tower service at pool wasn't available. Im dominican and I was very disappointed seeing tourist talking terrible things cause of the bad administration of this hotel. You are no a low cost hotel, I thought you had another quality.

This is our third time back to this hotel. Overall, our stay was wonderful. The resort has beautiful, lush vegetation. The staff at the restaurants and bars work extremely hard and take care of the guests with a smile. The housekeeping also did an outstanding job keeping our room immaculate and bug free. Martha was our main housekeeper in villa 47 and she was a shining star. Our AC was also working nicely as I have seen many issues with AC in other villas. Coral Level: We stayed at Coral Level this time and the Coral Level lounge was my favorite place. The drinks prepared by Edwin were amazing, the lovely daytime bartender whose name began with a D that I can't remember was so gracious and helpful with our boys. El Faro: this restaurant exclusively for Coral guests has the best breakfast spread in my opinion and the team here is wonderful. The pastries remind me of Europe, the juices are fresh and the team prepared local Dominican cuisine as well as international items. Spa: Lovely area to relax and get massages. Cleo, Helen and Yahaira were my favorite massage therapists. Star Prestige: This was the most disappointing part of our vacation. We are Club members so we have to check-in at the Star Prestige lounge located near the main lobby (vs Coral even though we booked Coral). The same thing happened last year so nothing has really changed in terms of customer service in the Prestige team. The concierge from prestige sends an email a week prior to club members asking about allergies and other accommodations. We are traveling with babies so all we requested was a room with a king bed on the first floor and a baby crib. When we arrived, the greeting at Star Prestige was not very friendly and we were asked if this were our first time at the hotel. This does not make a returning customer loyal guest feel very welcome nor appreciated. We were then taken to a villa that had two double beds, a made up sofa bed, no crib and a wine assortment we did not request. The room also smelled like sewer. After traveling for 13 hours with 2 children, we just wanted to get to our room and relax. Instead, we had to call back, argue and take all of our luggage back to the lobby to start over and find a suitable room. We did not request much and were disappointed in the lack of attention to detail and non-hospitable welcome. I watched how guests in Coral Level are welcomed with a fresh cool towel, a welcome drink and a smile. This is not what you get in the prestige side and this should be the highest standard of service for loyal customers. After this bumpy arrival, everything else went smoothly but it always seems to be an issue and would like to see improvements in the prestige welcome.

Absolutely beautiful resort and very nice relaxing vacation. We were originally suppose to stay at Iberostar Dominicana (right next door) but we were offered to upgrade to the Selection Barvaro Suites and it was definitely well worth the money. The room was very spacious and had a king size bed as well as a sitting area and an outdoor balcony overlooking the garden/pathways. There was a mini bar in the room and it was to be refilled everyday but ours was not. The pool was probably one of the bests parts. There was a swim up bar on the one side and then the pool continued and had a deeper section and a bubbler/hot tub portion. The seats around the pool did tend to fill up kinda fast but we always managed to find a tiki hut to sit under. The beach was also nice; however the amount of seaweed that was there was disappointing, sometimes it was so thick that you couldn't even reach the water without jumping over the large amounts, I think they tried to clean it daily but we also had a tropical storm warning when we were there so it was understandable that it was hard to keep up with. The food was very good as well, we had 3 specialty restaurant reservations (Greek, Steakhouse, and French) all were fantastic and had a good menu selection. The buffets were also very good and had a lot of different food options every day. Entertainment at the resort was also great, we only caught one of the night shows and it was excellent. Only thing I will also add is make sure that you watch out for the street vendors that are on the resort Saturdays - they are very pushy and will not back down when you go to buy something, just be cautious and be firm when you tell them no. I would definitely like to come back to this resort in the future as everyone was very nice and friendly!

Good value for money. Regular rooms are a bit tired but the restaurants and bars are good. We tipped $10 in the buffet on the first night and got great service for the rest of the trip. I’m sure there are more luxurious resorts but they seemed to be 2k more expensive. The service is good and small tips are really welcomed. Main bar does superb cocktails for an all inclusive! On the whole we had a great holiday!

First off, our first day of arriving the room wasn't even ready. Waited 2 hours for a room then the AC wasn't working. The room was hot like a sauna. The staff were not informative whatsoever. It was a bother to them to keep asking a question. The room was infested with big roaches, dated furniture and staff who were talking crap in Spanish about the customers. Only thing they were interested in was hustling everyone to buy stupid timeshares. I will never recommend this hotel to noone. I've been on over 15 vacations in the Caribbean and by far this is the worst!!

I celebrated my wedding at Iberostar Selection. The wedding turned out beautiful and the wedding coordinator did a great job. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the resort. I am embarrassed with what my family and friends who traveled to my wedding had to experience at that resort. There was no air conditioning for the ENTIRE 7 days that my guest and I stayed in the hotel. SEVERAL rooms were infested with roaches, where one room had so many that it had to be fumigated and my guest had to change rooms. The rooms were not cleaned well: blood on the sheets and sofa cushions were very dirty and had to be replaced. Housekeeping kept entering the rooms when the "do not disturb" sign was on the door. SEVERAL guests complained that they were showering when housekeeping entered. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. I chose Iberostar Selection Bávaro for my wedding because I visited 5 years ago and I fell in love with it. However, I am writing this review because I don't think it's no longer a 5 star hotel, it's misleading with the conditions of the rooms and the maintenance staff.

For a 5 star resort, the rooms are subpar. The place hasn’t been updated since 2011 and ABSOLUTELY needs it. When the air conditioning decides to work, the cockroaches come out from hiding. Required reservations on restaurants which are mostly booked around times that you would like to go. If you don’t get up by 7am to find the limited shaded spots by the pool then be prepared to melt in the sun. My Spanish is very poor and I have to say that if you don’t speak even a little Spanish then it’s very very tough to understand mostly all the workers here including the hotel lobby. Workers and staff are friendly, however, I will never book here again and I will encourage anyone to do your research before spending your hard-earned money here instead of any other tropical vacation.
