So my girlfriend and I went on the Rinjani mountain. A four day hike that really brought us to our limits. We were physically done, we just wanted to get back to Bali and relax forever. But we still needed a place to stay to get our boat the next day.
On the way to the harbor town Bengsal, we stumbled upon the Rinjani Beach Eco. Fitting with the name, close to the harbor and with nice pictures we decided to book one night to go on the next morning.
But what can I say...
This is one of the nicest places I have been in so far. Not only because it is just a nice and small little Resort with about 6 or 7 Bamboo bungalows directly at the beach, but especially everybody who worked the or managed the place was extremely nice and friendly. It felt so right, that we stayed another night and postponed our boat ride. And on top Jerry, the manager if the resort, helped us with every little step for that. Talked to the boat company, Organized a ride for us and even gave me a scooter ride to the ATM and the pharmacy, because I needed some painkillers after the long Rinjani hike.
So to make it short...
If you go there, you will feel like family, and you will think that you arrived in paradise.
Hopefully I will be back in the region, because I would go stay there again for sure.

A good resort is all about location and service . The location is on the beach and the view is extraordinary The staff is extremely friendly. From the resort you can reach everything on lombok you want but most of the time you will need transport. The staff arranges everything for you ( scooter, taxi, boat) . We stayed for 11 nights in de beachfront bungalow and enjoyed it a lot. The sea is only 20 meters away and the swimming pool 10 meters. Breakfast is simple but ok and the menu is good. At walking distance we found several very good local restaurants . The prices of the bungalows are reasonable. Its not the cheapest place to stay but on the other hand you will get a beautiful spot with nice service. We didn't miss the airco. The fans and nets did their work. There are a few things to improve. Please make it possible to pay by creditcard. I had to go 7 times to the atm and it cost me 35 euro only to withdraw enough cash. A water boiler and a little fridge , at least in the more expensive rooms would be nice .

Last July we stayed with our family for 3 nights at Rinjani for a few days and it was a wonderful experience. The staff was very cordial and caring. We slept in the backpackers bamboo huts which were simple but gave us the feeling of being in Indonesia. The massages at the beach are highly recommended and the sunset is also beautiful. It was also possible to arrange day trips through Rinjani (Iskandar Lombok Driver), which we also did for a number of days during our stay. The guide was very friendly and drove safely (in addition, everything was possible, very flexible). Both are highly recommended for anyone who wants to explore Lombok!

The resort: so charming! Small, so it’s just a few steps away from the pool (just cold enough to be refreshing!) , the beach or the restaurant.
The restaurant: the cook is amazing! Go for local specialties, poke bowl or freshly caught fish. Drinks are also on point!
The room/villa: I had the red one, which is the ocean view bungalow. No AC, but you can ask for a second fan if you’re too hot. The mosquitoes are out only if it rained, but I only saw one or 2 in the 4 days I was there. Everything you need is in there. You can nap with the sound of the waves…
Things to do: there’s a lot to do and you can ask reception but I did a day trip to the Gili islands with Ary, we went snorkelling (amazing!) and saw lots of turtles. Ary is great company!
The staff is great and you feel welcome. Would definitely go back!

I stayed at the Rinajni Eco Beach Resort in early November for a long week-end.
The location is a bit more remote (about an hour) than further south where many of the hotels are, but that was the point. If you are going to a remote island like Lombok, why go for the strip of beach with the most hotels?
I had a good feeling about the place before I arrived, because when called to explain that I'd be arriving on a very late flight, it was no trouble for the resident manager (Willie). He reassured me that their regular driver, Andi, would be there to pick me up. And sure enough, in spite of landing later than expected -- way past 1 AM -- ,Andi was cheerfully waiting for me and off we went. (He was also there a few days later to pick me up and throw in a detour to a local artisan coop.)
Upon arriving somewhere way past 2 AM, Willie greeted me with smiles and made sure that I was comfortably settled in.
The bungalow I booked was large and comfortable. No A/C, but not missed. The ocean breeze did a better job. A good quality fan was provided just in case. Nice touch. I also liked the shower outside, as it reminded me of a couple of similar resorts in Africa and Vancouver Island, where you can enjoy being outside, yet still have privacy.
The next morning I woke up happy to see the grounds were indeed located smack on the beach, about 500m from the town and in what seemed like a coconut plantation. Nice and quiet, The owners Guy and his wife Malee warmly greeted me, and then set me up with a table on the beach with fresh juice, perfectly scrambled eggs and a strong cup of excellent local coffee, That kind of set the tone. Lunch and dinner were also offered up in the same way and the food was decent. However, a walk to the town to sample the local fare proved very worthwhile too. Try out Anna's restaurant.
The beach itself goes on for many kilometers in both directions, with maybe 3 to 4 people sighted in as many days. A local fisherman and some local kids playing football a ways down from the resort.
Guy set himself up with a dive shop and for a reasonable fee, and brings you out to some reefs not far from the resort. And, kind of like the resort, the dive site was unspoiled by excessive, 'tourist' divers.
A word about the eco angle. The bungalows are all in good shape, recently built in bamboo, with local materials and labour, all fitting in with unobtrusive elegance, and mindful of carbon foot print. Refreshingly simple and healthier, than the larger, factory like corporate hotels.
Last but not least, the staff: Incredibly quiet, friendly and efficient. The place is kept very clean and the gardener obviously shows great care for the grounds.
All in all this is one of the better places I've stayed at worldwide, and recommend it for couples, family, friends and solo travelers who put a premium on peace and quiet.

This hotel is completely isolated on a dessert road on the beach. Even the taxidrivers don't find it. There is nothing to do in the surroundings. We had a very nice bungalow on the beach seafront but we didn't feel well in this hotel. The fact that you can only eat in the hotel (and the food isn't very good) and the isolation make us quit for 3 nights. We left earlier but Guy the owner was very nice and gave us a refund for 2 nights. If you like complete isolation book this hotel otherwise book in Senggigi.

Great (basic) bamboo huts, great Indonesian food (not so sure about the Western dishes...), great (quite cold) pool and AMAZING beach... One of best, untouched beaches of travels so far. Few tourists. Easy to get to/from Mt Rinjani for trekking too.

We are about to spend our last night in Rinjani and we will be sad to go! I'm currently lying on the bed watching the sunset. We are staying in the beachfront bungalow and the little bit extra is worth it, it's literally 5 steps to the water. If you want a relax this is the place for you with an added bonus, the food is great!

I've travelled to most Asian countries & explored rest of world. Feel qualified to make these comments
1. Hotel is overpriced for quality provided. FYI I only paid NZ$35 more/night to stay at The Chandi a truly exceptional hotel. Rinjani is a losmen compared to The Chandi
2. Gardens are far from beautiful. No outdoor paving means all sand on feet is carried indoors
3. Pool area is unloved - There are no cushions for beach loungers
4. Beachfront bungalow is very spartan - Lighting minimal - Only a bedside rather than overhead fan
6. Food in restaurant reminiscent of very plain losmen cooking
7. If you need to keep in touch the Wi-Fi is hopeless -Often not working so a 5-min task takes an hour
Beach however perfect for swimming & very tranquil - All the negatives do detract 'tho

We spent four nights at Rinjani Beach as part of a month trip to Indonesia. We had a brilliant stay. We had one of the more expensive bungalows overlooking the beach and it was spacious and clean with amazing views. What we loved most was that this place was really remote and non-touristy and we left feeling like we had a true glimpse of Lombok. The owners, Marja-Leena and Guy, are really welcoming and are keen to tell you about the area and what tours and trips there is to do, without being pushy or intrusive. They create a relaxed and informal atmosphere which instantly makes you feel at home. The food is really tasty, we had the best Mee Goreng of our whole trip (and after a month in Indonesia we ate a lot of Mee Goreng). Like other reviewers said, the food can take a while but as long as you know that in advance its not a problem. I am veggie and this was no problem for the chef. This place is perfect if you want to chill out, see authentic Lombok away from crowds and just relax. Thank you again to the Rinjani team xx

Hello Bill Lalay,
Thank you for your message.
Yes we can put a double bed instead of the two single bed no problem with that.
Have a great day,
Rémi Bègue
General Manager
Hello Elke,
Yes after 20-30 meters there are many reefs tables and if you are very very lucky you can see mantas.
The best spots for diving are aroudn the 3 Gilis (Meno, Air and Trawangan) where you can see turtles, many fish and mantas (again if you are lucky).
Best regards,
Rémi Bègue
General Manager
Hello Mindy,
I have never experienced bus from the airport, all i know is that there are bus that go from the airport and you can stop in Senggigi which is about 45min from the resort.
If your goal is to save money we could maybe pick you up in Senggigi by scooter. Are you alone ?
Best regards,
Rémi Bègue
General Manager
Hi there,
We can organise a pick up from anywhere in Gili Air to bring you to the hotel beach. This service cost Rp400.000 and includes fresh water and towels.
Thank you.
