We camped a couple of nights at Petit Jean. When it started to rain we decided to check into the lodge. The room was small but comfortable. There is a pretty big television, a small shower with hot water, and a good heater. It was quiet in our room even though there were lots of people in the lodge. There... More

The lodge room on level 1,was noisy. Book on 2. The management should train housekeeping to make certain the alarm clock is off. Our alarm went off at 5:30am.spoiled our morning. The dining experience was slightly south of mediocre. Service was good, the price was reasonable. In the future we will rent a cabin with kitchen facilities.

Thank you for taking the time to review our park. I am sorry to hear you were awakened at such an early time! We use reviews for training purposes and will certainly follow up with housekeeping so this doesn't happen to a future guest. We look forward to your next visit. More

Mather Lodge is a beautiful lodge built by the CCC back in the 40's. The lodge has modern amenities but keeps it's rustic nature. Sits on a hilltop surrounded by gorgeous scenery. My room was small, but very comfortable. Bed was great, a neat bathroom with a walk in shower. Room had everything needed to be very comfortable. Lodge has... More

We stayed at Mather Lodge for our 17th wedding anniversary. It's nice to be able to hike several trails and never have to drive anywhere. We hiked 12.5 miles in 2 days. The rooms were smaller than a motel room, BUT not too small.

Located at Petit Jean State Park in central Arkansas, Mather Lodge was originally built by the CCC program in the 1930's but has since had a large restaurant added and the rooms modernized. A breezeway separates the rooms from the lobby and restaurant. The views from wrap-around porch and restaurant are impressive. I have visited during all four seasons and... More

We stayed one night at the Mather Lodge and enjoyed our visit very much. I love the look and feel of the place and the guests' swimming pool was very nice...natural stone with a waterfall of sorts. Great panoramic vistas made the place even more enjoyable. The staff was friendly. Rooms were smallish but adequate. The plumbing was a bit... More

Lodge rooms are definitely small but well priced. They accommodated us by making sure we had rooms directly across from each other as requested. The AC and ceiling fan work well and the room was definitely quiet from outside noise. Bathroom is extremely small but shower had great water pressure. The closet space is nice but it is hard for... Thank you for your review. Mather Lodge is a beautiful original Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and Works Progress Administration work from the 1930s. Therefore the rooms are smaller than most modern rooms. I apologize that you had problems with the door. The humidity has been an issue, and we are looking at way to correct that. We are happy you... We stayed in a wonderful, pet friendly cabin. It was a great, clean cabin. We couldn't have been happier. The restaurant serves delicious food either to eat in or to take to your cabin. The surroundings are awesome and there's lots to do. Be sure to hike to Cedar Falls.

The Mather Lodge and the CCC history is very interesting. The old lodge and the new one are blended very well. Lunch in the dining room overlooking Petit Jean park was very pleasant. The service was good. The food was just average, however. That really did not matter to us. We had a great time.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
One of Arkansas's historic treasures, Mather Lodge at Petit Jean State Park, reopened on May 8 following a beautiful, and fitting, $4.3 million renovation. The renovation work replaced the lodge's 1960s-era dining room with a more rustic-style design, expanded the kitchen, added a 50-person room for meetings and small banquets, relocated the guest registration desk, enhanced the 24 guest rooms, and constructed a new lodge swimming pool. Public restrooms were added underneath the pool due to its proximity to Cedar Falls Trail, one of the park's most popular hiking trails. The renovation did not affect any of the lodge's original Civilian Conservation Corps and Works Progress Administration work from the 1930s. Now the renovated portion mirrors the Adirondack-style park architecture of the 1930s' portions of this Arkansas treasure. ... more   less
