This time, the Takasago Onsen is a hot spring in Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, with private baths available for rent. It's about a 40-minute bus ride from Asahikawa Station. If you go in March, there's a lot of snow, and since it's uphill, it feels impossible to go by car, so I used the bus. Bathing in the hot spring in the cold really warms you up. The private bath was small, but I think it's just the right size for couples. There aren't many buses, so be careful with the time when you go❤

We had some problems getting to the hotel, as Google maps insisted on pointing us to another deserted building down the street (which also had a sign Takasago onsen). Once we got in, it turned out nobody at the reception spoke any English, luckily one of the other guests who was just checking in volunteered to interpret. It turned out that they wanted to notify us that the AC in our room was broken (it was 35 degrees outside). After refusing to accept that room, they gave us another room with a working AC. The hotel itself is very similar to other big spa hotels we stayed in, reasonably comfortable rooms, big buffet meals, but the quality of the food was so so, but the highlight of the place was the onsen, with about 10 inside pools and a nice outside jacuzzi. I guess that was the big attraction for all the tourist groups.

Thanks for your comment. Our staff doesn't speak English, but I hope you can think of it as a Japanese hot spring inn. We are looking forward to seeing you again. T.Nagai, Representative Director.

This is my favourite onsen in Asahikawa. Can't for the life of me figure out why it doesn't get better reviews.

At Y600 it is the cheapest one around. It has a large number of baths at different temperatures and with different 'ingredients', eg: 'Germanium Ore (which I am going to assume is somehow good for you). The denki buro (electric bath) is gentle enough to be able to enjoyably use.

Staff are very helpful, though there's no English spoken. There is a dedicated, well furnished kid's play area.
You can get a bus there from Asahikawa station. It's best to ask at the information desk though, as the bus system can be quite confusing. Else, take a taxi.

Room Tip: The restaurant opens at 5pm, so no lunch here.
