Asahikawa is located in central Hokkaido, making it perfect for sightseeing on Japan's northernmost island. It's also quite popular as a homebase for those sightseeing in Biei or Furano. Enjoy a wonderfully relaxed town without the panic of heavy crowds even at the main station, and take your time savoring a never-ending stream of wonderful attractions such as the Asahiyama Zoo or local ramen.

Location:
Hotel was located opposite a walking shopping street
15 min from the Aeon mall / main JR station Asahikawa
We used this hotel as a base to explore the Biei and Furano region

Amenities:
The basement had a onsen and sauna for men and women
2 admission times - one in the morning till 830am and the pm one from 3:30pm till midnight
Small onsen but works well
You have to bring your towels from you room and key card to the onsen and you can wear the room wear (which you can pickup near the lifts on level 1)
No outdoor onsen
Parking in house is limited and at additional charge. However, hotel has a deal with a number of private carpark operators nearby. You will have to get a parking permit (at point of exit) from the machine and bring it to the hotel reception to pay so that you can get the special rate of 10000yen per entry/exit.
Free drinks in the lobby from 8-10pm - sparking wine and flavoured water
Nice seating all around with a book corner (all Japanese) where you can read in peace
Also, some kids activities available for free in the lobby area
They had a talk about the zoo at 8pm for the kids (in Japanese) and a shuttle to the zoo
Room wear and amenities available for self pickup at the lifts from level 1

Rooms:
Small but very functional
Rooms much larger than those at the JR hotel at the train station.
We had the family room which had 2 single beds and a tatami area with floor beds

Breakfast
Small range but has premium options like a seafood bowl with tuna and scallops
Pastries were pretty good here

Service:
The staff were competent but most spoke little or no English
They also do not help with the bags to the room. They give you a small cart to wheel your own luggage to your room

Conclusion:
Family oriented hotel with lots of kids. Fair bit of amenities compared to other hotels including an onsen

I’m very surprised by the relatively low rating of this hotel. We had a very good experience here, and found the room to be spacious and comfortable (though fairly typical old-school Japanese hotel). Service was good overall and the breakfast was delicious.

The hotel is located in the best part of Asahikawa, near the main train station and the very cool and fun shopping street.

The hotel also has an outdoor parking lot located immediately behind the hotel.

Our only hiccup was that we arrived slightly before the 1500 check in time (we arrived at 1440) and were told we had to wait until exactly 1500 to check in. This is Japan and I appreciate being a stickler for the rules, but sometimes good customer service is about making calculated exceptions. Maybe next time.

We would certainly recommend this place to others.

I visited OMMO for the first time. There were many cute stuffed animals from the Asahikawa Zoo throughout the hotel, which made me feel delighted and excited. Additionally, the lobby and room interiors had a cute, warm atmosphere, as if animals could appear at any moment, allowing me to relax and feel healed.

Excellent hearty breakfast. Feel free to take out a cup of coffee with you after finishing breakfast.

Small but cozy room. Pillow and mattress comfortable. The bed by the window is quite appealing but cold air from the air-conditioner gave me a headache.

Washing machines in the basement is a plus.

Nice hotel with clen room in downtwon Asahikawa. You may rent a byke and visit the entire city in about one hour. The breakfast was nothing special. I am not sure if they have a swimming pool and spa.

This hotel is an older hotel which has been partially renovated. The rooms haven’t been updated yet (I assume they will be) and are a little tired. Not bad, they’re a good size and everything’s there but they look a little old.
The lobby and public spaces however have been beautifully renovated and look amazing. The food also was truly superb.
Staff were very helpful and friendly. It’s maybe a little expensive but we had a nice time at this hotel and would stay here again.

First, the front desk male staff didn’t look very friendly when I checked in. He looked so cool and I didn’t feel like I was welcomed even though the decorations of the hotel gave me a “Wow” impression when I stepped in.

Second, when our car arrived at the hotel main entrance, there were at least THREE staff running to help us with the luggages. However, when I checked out, I asked my daughter to go to the front desk to return the keys, while I was trying my best to push all the luggages from the elevator to the main door. A female staff with a poker face came to me, but she didn’t offer any help, because all she wanted was just asking for the carpark fee!!!
I paid more than USD$400 for a night, but didn’t expect service like this!

I also stayed at two other hotels at Asahikawa, but they only charged $800 yen for carpark. One just behind the hotel, and another one was located at the basement. However, this hotel charged me $1000 yen but the carpark was one long street away from the hotel, because all the others were full!

The room itself was good and comfortable but it was way overpriced, provided with the above customer services! Not worth at all!! I won’t recommend to others!

We weren't quite sure what to expect from this stay as we were offered it as an add on from Tomamu (which was superb, by the way)
We were pleasantly surprised at how much there was to do. We got to see what a smaller Japanese city was like. Lots of little eateries to be found on the streets (using Tripadvisor, of course) For those who have had enough of skiing, there was the Zoo where you can see cold cimate animals, like penguins up close. The Science museum was also a delight. We only spent 3 days there but could have easily spent a full week.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful. However, initially, we arrived a few hours early (as you're not to check in until 3pm but we were permitted to our rooms at 2pm) and the front desk staff hid the coffee cups from us. (the stack next to the coffee machines) We weren't being rowdy or abusing the free goods by any means. Very weird. Ultimately, the front desk staff were very helpful, booking restaurants for us and answering questions about our transport needs.
No swimming pool, unfortunately for those with children. There is a spa but you have to bare all.
The breakfast buffet was perfect. Lots of variety from, Faux Western to Japanese.
There were other ski resorts but we stuck to Kamui. Despite only 3.5 stars on Powder hound, Kamui was A+ when we turned up. Very fresh powder on both visits and not very crowded at all. Most of the school groups were at the bottom runs and didn't make it up to the higher runs until midday. If you're naughty enough to not bring your own skis or boards, we suggest that you hire from the shop at the hotel ground floor. Excellent powder style equipment, which you'll need if you're advanced (I had the paddle-pop snowboard and it was murder in very deep powder). Butch at the shop was a dude. Although his Hokkaido brand was very expensive to hire, it was worth every yen.
The hire at Kamui was considerable better than Tomamu but still pretty elementary for boarders (better for skiers)
All in all. A plus. Not a bad little town and a top hotel to stay at. Make sure you rug up well before you step outside.

Had two nights here with my wife. Hotel service very good and rooms nice size and very clean, with views over the city to the snow capped mountains. We were directed to the car park from the Reception area - it's located at the rear of the hotel. The breakfast buffet was very good with two waffle stations where the chefs cooked them to order. The hotel is one block from the main high street, which you can follow all the way to the station, which is about 15 minutes away. This used to be the Grand Hotel. highly recommended.

糟透了,同樣價錢的房間結果舊到受不了。跟網站上的完全不一樣,房間的冰箱裡也沒有水,真是太令人失望的一間星野飯店!!!We booked 3 rooms and one of them is really old and dirty also no water, or coffee provided but other 2 room is clean and it also has water coffee, etc. I really don't understand why because we paid same rate for three room. The web site from hoshinoya said it is newly opened hotel but it is totally dissapointed.
