We stayed on our way back home through France and wanted to go off the beaten track having read a review of this area a few months ago. The village is lovely, if rather quiet in October (not surprising) and the hotel was a great find. Luckily they had asked in advance if we would like dinner there, thank goodness...

We had dinner in their elegant baronial dining room. The fixed price menu worked well for us, with imaginative dishes. The food was delicious, expertly prepared and presented. Nice wine list with plenty of choice, including many wines of the region. Service was efficient, courteous and friendly. A thoroughly enjoyable occasion. Highly recommended.

The hotel is small and attractive. Our room was sufficient but rather small. Food was of a good standard, and breakfast was buffet style. It was very peaceful and we were able to eat out in the courtyard in the evening which was very pleasant. Do visit the abbey of Saint Savin if you like frescoes as it is well worth...

Ate here for the first time. What a revelation. Discrete but attentive service. Wonderful aperitif - pineau. The food was absolutely amazing: from the homemade bread to the velouté, the melon served at the perfect consistency and temperature, the beautiful haddock, the blue cheese, the honey roast peach. Beautiful organic red wine that complemented the entire meal. The relaxed atmosphere...

The place is wonderful, caracteristic, full of charme. wonderful property, nice rooms, good bathrooms. Breakfast is very nice, local, fresh and varied food. We also had dinner here and the owner of the place made everything to accommodate the difficult eating habits of my mother enquiring before our arrival on the 'does and don'ts' and even providing her with a...

We spent one night at the Relais Lyon d'Or. It was very nice, and definitely worth staying in the heart of the very picturesque Angles sur l'Anglin. The rooms were rustic, but clean and comfortable. The restaurant was very good and served typical French food. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

What a find. Fab hotel & restaurant. Bit pricey but it was worth it. The staff were very good and went the extra mile. The room we had was great and very clean. Their English was very good indeed, especially as we had a very long journey to get there and could not string two words together less speak French.

We have passed this hotel several times but with our own home in the region have never needed to stay until now. We are so pleased we did because it is a lovely place to escape and enjoy the village of Angles. The settling and ancient building are inspiring. Beautifully decorated rooms that combine history with modern convenience. Very efficient...

We were on our way to Bordeaux, and wanted to get out in the countryside. We stayed based on the reviews from trip advisor. It was really wonderful. Amazing setting, great ancient facility, and a great restaurant. I would strongly suggest you go if 1) you like driving in the country, 2) you like quaint towns, and 3) you want...
