The hill-top of Cerro Pui-Pinos is the setting for this 12th-13th C. castle-convent, the natural defense of the town, with splendid views over the Maestrazgo. It features Gothic walls, a plateresque tomb, an Aragonese palace and a baroque façade. The interior features reddish, ochre and green tones and oak in a large beams, furniture and the magnificent dining room

We stayed a single night at the Parador in Alcañiz, on a road trip down to southern Spain during Covid. The place was pretty empty, no doubt due to the ongoing plague situation, but staff were happy and attentive nonetheless. Our room was big, clean, well equipped and well presented. It had all the necessary accoutrements, and the bed was spacious enough for couples to fall out whilst still having a good night’s sleep, as well as being very comfy, despite us booking only a basic double. The location is outstanding, being on the site of an old castle which has been sympathetically updated to become a beautiful and elegant hotel with incredible views over the surrounding area. The price of the room was reasonable, but, unsurprisingly, the bar and restaurant prices were a little steep, which is the only reason for my lack of giving the final star. I would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone if in the area. A special award goes to our slightly tattooed bar server, who was polite, helpful and friendly throughout our visit to her beautiful and stately establishment.

Returned for an overnight stop as enjoyed the setup when there before. Super location and history. Service was excellent as was the bar food and dinner in the restaurant. Room had great view over the mountains and bathroom very nicely refurbished.

Beautiful castle with comfortable rooms. The bathroom was large and beds supper comfortable. You must take a tour of the castle and its surrounding areas. No disappointments here. Food is excellent with a varied menu. Staff is friendly and accommodating . I recommend a stay at this Parador.

We stayed here for the forth time in nine years, after being Parador Alcañiz our first acquaintance with Paradores. Since then, we stayed in 67 Paradors all over Spain. In general we are quit pleased with the Parador-policy. The day of our arrival (6 nov 19) we where disappointed to met rather unfriendly staff in both reception and bar. However next day at breakfast and by checking-out we met friendly staff. Our room, 215, was OK. Renewed bathroom (modern design wit glazed panels between bath and toilet area). In the room a huge flat TV screen. My opinion, the TV should be mounted on the wall, to leave the desk free for writing. Parador policy has decided to get rid of the individual consumable flacons (shampoo, douche-gel, body lotion etc.) to help the environment. That is OK. However the new installed dispensers need refilling. In our room this has not happened for all. Restaurant Concordia offers great scenery to enjoy a late diner ‘cena’. We, Belgians, choose the ‘Menú Degustación Tradicional’ knowing after 20:30 h it would be too much for us. ‘Degustation’ takes time and that seemed not to be staff’s idea. The first plate not yet finished, they brought the second and so on. As a third starter we had hoped to have ‘Croquetas caseras de parador’. On the table came only two croquetas. That is one bite per person. The bread- basket looked invitingly to take a bite with olive oil and salt, however we hadn’t time for it. Breakfast buffet remains one of Paradores extras. Nevertheless we see it going down every year. Finally, we understand that live becomes more expensive. Therefor also Paradores should be entitled to adapt their prices. But please ame to give customers the quality they’re used to.

Arrived early to be told the room was available to occupy. Check in was easy and the reception staff was polite and happy. Also gave us a map of places of interest to see and do. Perfect location and the views to die for. Bar & breakfast staff were excellent and a credit to the hotel. Room was of good size & taste. Bed was comfortable and pillows were perfect. Free parking & WiFi. Close to town and the city centre
