Myself and my partner visited the Fairlight cafe this morning for breakfast. Staff very welcoming, decor traditional and atmosphere was relaxed. I had the full English - superb, quality products, every part was delicious, one the best cooked breakfasts I've ever had (and I've had a lot!!!) My partner had scrabbled egg on toast and she also enjoyed! Also, plenty... More

We popped into the cafe for Sunday brunch. We were seen to quickly, and with good humour by a nice chap I assume to be the owner. Coffee was on the table in seconds of ordering, two slices of toast to get us started came minutes later, then the massive plates of breakfast were in front of us. Good quality... More

Arrived in the evening and greeted by the lady owner- Lovely lady Was quickly shown to our room. Not a very large room, it was a little struggle to get to one side of the bed as it was very close to the window wall. Saying that the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was what let this place down. It... More

We were late getting in to the guest house, and it was after dark. I have to say that the winding, narrow road around the lake to get here is a little harrowing. Not the fault of the property, I am just mentioning this to suggest that you allow adequate time to drive on the road in the daylight if... More

The positives... Really lovely hosts, nice bloke and his missus works in the kitchen i think? Had battered fish and salad. First, the fish; this tasted like it came from a package, like bought 'ready made' from the wholesalers. It probably is, but, if it's just one person in the kitchen- i get it... Fish didn't look fresh for sure.... More

Was not staying at the Fairlight but needed somewhere for breakfast on the Saturday morning. The Fairlight opens the Cafe at 8am and so this was the ideal choice. I'd phoned prior to visiting and a table for the 6 of use had already been arranged, food and drink orders were quickly taken and it wasn't long before both were... More

If you're visiting Glenridding and can't afford the luxury of the Inn On he Lake, the Fairlight Guesthouse is an excellent alternative. It doesn't claim to be the height of luxury but it is spotlessly clean, super friendly and does a cracking breakfast. A great budget base from which to explore the north eastern Lake District.
