Yes the resthouse has been there for years and years now but is definitely far away from its glory days. Although spacious and refurbished few years ago, rooms are not well furbished, TVs are old and broadcast few unheard of channels. Housekeeping is kept to a minimum, attention to details is completely absent.

The staff, from the get go, were staggeringly unhelpful, nobody helped with our luggage and the concierge seemed put out that we'd interrupted...

“Avoid the Resthouse completely and seek out one of the boutiques guesthouses in town, look deeper and you'll find the Orange House, a beautiful self-catering villa, set in gorgeous gardens and a private beach. Untouched by time it's like booking into 1976.”

“book a room with beach access (basement) preferrable extreme right (opposite of the pool and restaurant) as its calmer and v. private. for your dinner you can sit on the beach couches and order dinner from the restaurant”
