I almost hesitate to write this because the Quintessence Hotel on the British Virgin Island of Anguilla is like a best kept secret. Ten rooms wedged against an amazing tropical backdrop, phenomenal art collection in every exquisitely decorated room, personable and superb service from friendly-but-not-overbearing staff, stunning infinity pool, and zen-like spa garden are just a few things that come to mind from my stay. The hotel also features a small, but lovely beach, a cute boutique, a stunning art gallery, and Julian’s Restaurant, which offers guests a sumptuous, complimentary daily breakfast.

Nestled in quiet Long Bay, the Quintessence is perfect for the discerning traveler looking for a completely restorative, relaxing stay. For adults only, the hotel also features a well-stocked wine cellar and champagne room. Compared to the corporate, crowded feel of the Four Seasons Hotel or even the Cap Juluca, the Quintessence, with its exquisitely curated rooms and personalized service, offers a superior luxury experience for high end travelers looking to decompress.

We stayed for 6 nights at the Q. Lovely boutique hotel, quiet and peaceful. Rooms are large and all details of luxury have been thought of, from Frette linens to Hastens beds. The breakfast was delicious as well. Service is six star remnicent of the Aman hotels, high staff to guest ratio and personalized. You have a white sand beach basically to yourself!

On an island with a wealth of wonderful properties, this is truly a gem. You won't find catalog-purchased decor here that feels like an upscale hotel. This is truly a home with unique furniture and art hand chosen by the owner, and it's all exquisite and interesting and beautiful. My husband and I came here for peace, quiet and pampering and Q hotel and its staff deliver beyond comparison. Patricia Broomes, Tia at the desk and both gentlemen staffing the beach bar made sure we never needed anything. From the turndown service with handcrafted sweets, to the immaculate, empty beach, to the perfection of Julian's restaurant, we were blown away. The luxury suites in the main home are phenomenal and offer stunning views and multiple terraces. The loungers by the pool and on the beach are perfect. Occupancy was about 75-80% while we were there and we still felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Sure, you can go to one of the larger resorts on Rendezvous or Meads bay, but why? Long Bay Beach is just as if not more beautiful and you're likely to be the only person on it. I think one day I counted 8 people on the entire beach... you're only sharing with a couple of private villas. Plus, your room is full of unique and interesting art and furnishings, not the same thing that's down the hall. Ask to see the amazing wine cellar and champagne room. Patricia took care of our dining reservations for us and we had prime seating at each location. Julian's was definitely one of our favorites!
If you're worried about the walk to and from the beach (the hotel owner's private villa is between the hotel and the beach), don't. It's an easy downhill walk, and we never waited for the golf cart to take us back to our room when we were feeling too lazy to walk back up! In fact, this is probably why the beach is so great; it takes a tiny bit of extra effort for the public to access, so you'll only meet fellow hotel guests and villa residents. We just sat for hours at a time hearing nothing but the ocean, but having access to a delicious beach bar and restaurant 10 feet away.
I will definitely be sending my clients who value peace, quiet, luxury, delicious food and wine, art and architecture to Quintessence, where I know Ms. Broomes will take excellent care of them.

My husband planned a couple days get away for my birthday at the property. Before we had even left, Patrica had ensured we had dinner reservations and a planned itinerary. Upon on arrival, Simone also worked very hard to ensure we were happy and aware of all of our plans. The Luxury resort is only 9 bedrooms which allows for a peacefully and relaxing time away. Infinity pool overlooks the gardens and has views of the ocean. Dinner at Julian's was amazing. We ended up with a private birthday dinner on the Chess Board and decided to dine there again on our last evening. Breakfast each morning was made to order and there was no lack in choices. We were treated to Gelato in the afternoon at the Pool. Convenient location in Long Bay allowed for evening ventures to see Omalie 360 playing at The Four Season lounge or Savy Beach club.

I struggled with writing this review. I wondered if I had a bias (Anguilla is the truest of hidden gems, and my favorite beach vacation anywhere). Then I wondered if I really wanted to say how incredible this property is, because I want to keep it all to myself. The Staff is amazing, the property is serene. The hotel was 80% occupied yet my wife and I felt all alone everywhere we went. Most days the beach was to ourselves, maybe another couple, the pool the same. Really, every experience was just like that. You have your own hotel to yourself.

The Staff goes out of their way to pamper you and cater to your every need. To the point that they were getting mad at me, because I just like to do some things myself sometimes. This is a luxury property on a one of a kind island. I don't know if I can say much more. Small touches like your bottles of water being refilled all throughout the day, and your nightly surprise from the pastry chef left by your bed just drive the points home.

There isn't a bad plate of food to be had here, and with Julian's on site, it's not hard to understand why. Breakfast is simply outstanding, and the staff goes out of their way to know you, so that they can provide service without your having to ask. That's really the difference. This is a personal experience. If you take the time to fill out the Concierge form sent to you prior to arrival and give them detail, they just know it. We were greeted every morning at breakfast and everywhere we went by name. Everyone on staff is a professional in the business of service, and it shows day by day and hour by hour.

So please take everything I've said here and scoff at it, so that when I go back again next year, and the next year, and the next year, it's still just all to ourselves.

We were lucky enough to stay at Quintessence before the holidays in December

We took a pleasant boat ride over from St. Martin and a short (10 mins?) drive to the resort. There is a spectacular gallery before you get to the main building which I would highly recommend.
You could, and we did, spend days just looking through all of the art, amazing. The private beach is as good as it gets with a very attentive staff.....and an amazing ability to Quench your thirst!
We bobbed around in the ocean for hours, which we never do.....
As a craftsman, I was in awe of the materials, fixtures and finishes. This place was designed with every detail in mind.
The rooms are very private with balconies overlooking the pool and ocean, gorgeous landscaping.
Another detail worth noting is the quality of the mattress and linens. They spared no expense here, seriously pleasant zzzzzzzz’s
The service was top notch. The food was amazing. The staff took care of all of our needs with a smile and always addressed us by our names which is a small thing but a nice personal touch.

It is tough to put in to words the beauty of the Q so I would recommend experiencing it first hand.
We hated to leave but we can’t wait to go back!

I honestly had no expectations for this hotel. I just knew that I did not want to stay in one of the large hotels. My husband and I prefer small intimate boutique hotels. Q hotel was everything we love and more. The in room amenities were amazing and well thought out. From black wash clothes for makeup removal to bug spray wipes and even natural locally made bug spray. Our room was beautifully decorated. There was an amazing welcome spread of food and champagne on arrival.

The hotel had just reopened for the season so it was not busy at all. We stayed for 4 night and 3 we were the only guests staying there. The beach is small but quiet (except for the construction going on at the next property). Perfect for us considering we do o like crowds.

The staff went above and beyond. They make you feel welcome and want to make sure you have everything you need. From the perfect drink at the bar to making sure I had iced tea every morning.

The hotel itself is beautifully decorated with lush furniture and very eclectic artwork that just works. The grounds are spectacular as well.

We rented a car and drove to different beaches everyday as well as ventured out for lunch and dinner. The restaurant in the hotel is excellent but we wanted to experience the what the island had to offer - Blanchard’s is a must!!!

Overall we would definitely stay here again. After seeing the bigger hotels on the island we knew we made the right choice. The staff and surroundings made us feel as if we were staying in a friends machine for the week - it was that relaxing and comfortable!

Merla and her team went WAY above and beyond to prepare one of the newly built rooms well before it was scheduled to be released into circulation. They must have worked long hours to have this spectacular room ready for our arrival considering we only booked last minute.
The staff and service was well above what we expected even from a Relais & Chateaux property.
A very secluded small hotel with great gym and Sauna (thank you)!!
easily access other restaurants on the island which made the entire experience just right for some quiet time plus fun at dinners.
Thanks to everyone on the property.
Planning a milestone Birthday with a large family in the next few years for this space.
Thank you.

If you are looking for quiet this is a great hotel! The rooms were nice. Mosquitoes were definitely a problem in our room and on the property. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is wonderful. Most of the staff is pleasant and attentive. It is conveniently located on the west end of the island. Has a small beach that you can walk each day and watch sunset from each night. This property is set back from the beach a bit, but still just a walk down to the beach. There is some elevation to the property which could make walking to the beach and back challenging for some. If you are looking for a lively atmosphere, this is not the property for you. If you like quiet and can deal with mosquitoes, then this is a great property for you.

Hi Nettie, I want to thank you for choosing Q Hotel. There are quite a few options of places to stay on Anguilla so we were honored that you chose to stay with us. I am sorry to hear about your experience with the mosquitos. Though we fog the property and ensure there are no pools of water, unfortunately this time of year does make it a it more challenges to keep them at bay. We hope that this will not deter you from returning to see us soon.

Quintessence Hotel is the most exquisite hotel I’ve ever stayed! From the moment you walk in you’re greeted with the most gracious staff. We were a party of 5 that enjoyed every amenity that Q offered! Our dining experience at Julian’s restaurant was amazing. The staff was so attentive when we went to the pool and beach. The art gallery and gift shop offer beautiful souvenirs of the island. If you’re looking for a one of a kind experience Q Hotel needs to be your go to!
