I stopped here for one night on our way to Mull and Iona. It was a bit of Scottish past captured at the tip of a beautiful loch. The owners and hosts are kept busy providing for their guests while tending to the pub and kitchen and rooms. While obviously overworked, they were very nice and trying to provide for...

Came here for dinner for the second time (2 years in a row) as a group on a Saturday as part of a diving weekend, staying elsewhere up the road so I'm commenting only on the bar/restaurant/food. It's the only place to eat/drink in the village but it's quite a cute place facing the sea with plenty of parking. The...

Firstly we sat in the bar for a drink as our table wasn't ready, we then had another drink before we were asked through to the dining room. We passed the time in the bar by thinking of things we could do to make the owner smile lol Having booked our table and placed our order for food 2 weeks...

First of all I do not understand the poor remarks down the reviews. who cares if the call to dine involved marigolds? It's a village country pub for pete's sake! Would you have a MD in white gloves at these prices? The last reviewer hit the nail on the head when he referred to the chef problems. I think we...

we booked for 11 on Sunday the 29th and everything was settled, even had the meals pre-chosen (just as well) as the chef quit on the Saturday and mine host Sally did the honours by cooking as she did pre-chef days. Let me tell you running a highland hotel is far from stressless with wayward chefs and indifferent deliveries from...

Charles and Sally provide a good basic hotel offering, nice clean rooms great breakfast and a very good pint of Belhaven best, only down side is the lack of en-suite facilities, but that will not stop me staying there again, and if you like waking up to a fantastic view this is the spot.

If you’re looking for en-suite, the height of luxury and all mod cons (though you can get free wi-fi), don’t bother! This is a family run hotel/pub which is very much a part of the community. So if part of your holiday enjoyment is to see how locals live and interact with them, you can enjoy yourself. For me, far...

The Manager of the Hotel's reputation proceeded him and bets were placed to see if we could make him smile. We failed in a big way. I have never met such a surly Landlord. He told us that he was fully booked in the restaurant then grudgingly told us we could have a table. You ordered at the bar and...

You get a sense of good, honest, hardworking folk and a close-knit community when you arrive at the Lochaline Hotel. Interestingly, we found out later that 30 St Kildans were evacuated in 1930 to Lochaline, Movern in 1930, whose descendants could account for the very large & fantastic piece of haddock in batter, friendly camaraderie in the bar & warm hospitality...

We had told Sappy we would be later arriving. No worries. 2 rooms held for us. Free wifi. Heat in rooms available. View of loch from front rooms very nice. Very close to ferry. Very good breakfast. Good service from Sally. Thanks!
