this is a simple yet lovely hotel, off a hacienda at the slope of volcano Rincon de la vieja. beautiful pond and river runs thru...nice cabins but better than that are the bungalows: Well worth the $10 ungrade.

If the management spent a tenth of the effort they spend on the grounds on the hotel facilities this would be a winner. Unfortunately they don't. The restaurant is appalling, only open until 8pm but it ran out of food by 730. Microwaved lasagne was the height of their cooking. The breakfast was so awful at 7$ shocking. The pool...

This is not a place for a regular tourist. If you are looking for A/C, nice dinners, TV, modern facilities, then this is not your place. But if you are looking for nature contact, long walks, animals and a quite place, this is for you. We just passed by to have dinner (we saw there is a restaurant and wanted...

This place was a hit with our kids they explored like crazy!! The animals just roam free. Tons of iguanas everywhere in every color shape and size. The tiny mini horses are so friendly my kids fed them and they come up to tie fence to be loved on and petted. Don't bother trying to catch the iguanas there too...

Every thing overpriced and no option around. Once you are there you are trapped and you need to pay an expensive cab 40-60$ to go back to Liberia . Service is bad activities as well. I recommend to avoid this hotel and rincon de la vieja.

We have mixed feelings about our stay here. My husband put together a trip for 9 people in Costa Rica. This was our last stop for 4 nights and the driver of our small bus dropped us off, to return at the end of our stay. Upon arrival, the front desk had no records of our making reservations for 5...

Staff were very friendly with enough English to satisfy basic needs, desk clerk was very capable with English. No a/c but fans were sufficient with nighttime cooling, hot water showers. Great grounds for birding (Southern Lapwings, scarlet tanagers, palebilled woodpeckers, etc) and hiking back to see white faced monkeys and keel-billed toucan, experience sulphur pools and water fall pool. Very...

This lodge provides all you need as a base camp for local hikes, tours and activities. Although the room we stayed in did not have air con, the area is naturally breezy and blows through well. The nights we stayed were particularly windy, which made our room a little noisy, but not a problem by any sense of the imagination....
