Nice place close to to shopping streets and all the restaurants. Very friendly staff and great daily happy hour with nice Pinot noir/ Chardonnay and some bites. Room was big with sleep sofa for our youngest in a separate room with own bathroom . So far so good . The major flaw is sound of the Nextdoor supermarket / deli that from 6 am is being restocked ( which is accompanied by music and loud speaking people ). Perhaps it is only hearable in room 9 but this was really annoying waking us way to early. Breakfast is a bit strange : delivered to the room with voice of fresh pastry / croissants / a tiny cup of granola with full fat Greek yoghurt or hard boiled eggs .. overall a nice place to stay in but with some flaws

From arrival to departure, the staff (Allison & Carlos ) was very responsive, friendly, helpful and personable. The rooms are updated, clean and dog-friendly. A comfortable dog bed along with feeding bowls were provided and appreciated by our dog. 😉 Coffee ☕️ and breakfast was brought to our room daily. We also enjoyed the wine and fire pit! Additionally, the cleaning staff did an excellent job in turning over our room during our 7-day stay. The hotel is located in one of the best spots in Carmel and is within walking distance to shops, restaurants and the beach. This hotel will be our first consideration the next time we visit.

Great location. Extras, like coffee & breakfast (hard boiled eggs, yogurt, pastries delivered to your door in the morning. Wine at 5pm with cheese, vegetables & dip. . Super helpful staff. Bicycles to borrow to see the town. I'd have a hard time finding a better place to stay. Loved it, & loved being in Carmel!

We arrived late at night on a Friday 2/11/22 and to our pleasant surprise there was parking available! We know that Carmel is a hotspot around February, even more so on Valentines weekend! We were excited to be away from home and by the beach. The Gateway is just blocks from the sandy beaches that are full of sun and fun! Before we started our days, we got complimentary breakfast. Not the typical powdered eggs type of continental breakfast some places serve. I’m talking about a well rounded breakfast which included hard boiled eggs for that early morning protein, granola topped yogurt, and a must have breakfast pastry to go with my coffee. It was simple, yet amazing. What was even better were the ladies that work in housekeeping and the kitchen. They were so attentive. Their tea variety is unheard of. The front desk ladies were nice too. My husband was able to take our Rottie out for numerous walks in this dog friendly hotel and neighborhood. It’s a dog’s dream! I am not a swimmer or a surfer but the beach is where I get to unwind and sink my feet into the cold wet under-layers of sand to cool down on a warm sunny day. We went to the different beaches in the area and parking wasn’t bad either. Let me tell you about all the fun shops ALL WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE!!! This hotel is in prime location near galleria, restaurants, nurseries, clothing stores and a cool bike shop. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else. I have to come back and enjoy the things I didn’t get to enjoy last time at the hotel, such as wine hour, the fire pits, and the lounge areas. The rooms are spacious and if you have kids like we do, you can even have adjacent rooms to spend quality time together. There are built-in gas fireplace heaters that will be amazing in cooler months. I turned them on and they are so nice to look at. The fans are super strong too. The beds were so comfortable and there are little tables and chairs inside and outside the rooms to hang out. I just love this place and it’s a must when visiting Carmel. My little secret is secret no more. See you soon Carmel!
