This room was so small my petite daughter and I felt cramped in it. While the room was attractively appointed, there was no place to put your clothes other than 2 extra small drawers in the extra small closet which was in the equally small bathroom. Room had zero amenities , no fridge, coffee pot or microwave and no parking. We were lucky to find on street parking a block away. Only pluses were the very nice wine and cheese which was offered in the office reception area that had a nice fireplace and sofa sitting area. Continental breakfast delivered to the front door was adequate. Reception staff was very nice. For the cost of the room, I would have expected something much better.
Our room (room 2) was next to the stairs, and was incredibly noisy. We selected this hotel because of they were pet friendly, but our dog (normally well behaved) was super reactive to noise in the room. We got no sleep, and probably kept up our neighbors with our barking dog. We asked if the hotel could move us to a quieter room, and they said it would cost $350, and that it would be unfair to other guests to move us to a quieter room without an additional charge. When we mentioned that we may leave early (to get sleep), they reminded us we wouldn’t get a refund (we never asked for one.) I found the txt conversation with the front desk insensitive, and the hotel far too noisy for my liking. The walls are paper thin. The coffee is weak, the breakfast is basic. The location is convenient, but street parking is tricky. I won’t return or recommend this place to others mostly because of noise.…
Mostly agree with multiple other reviewers 1-you’re paying for location which is convenient to shops and restaurants Room is ok nothing unusual other than some have fireplace. Minimal closet/dresser storage with no place for luggage in the room we were in 2-breakfast is 1 hard boiled egg, yogurt, coffee (not even a full cup each) a croissant and small danish. I assume the buffet breakfast prior to Covid was better 3-noise was a huge problem for us because of the lack of soundproofing of the hotel. Got woken up middle of the night by upstairs people walking around and again at 5 am by next door people talking so loudly we heard their entire conversation. Front desk has earplugs as a “fix” so this must be a common issue 4- wine and cheese at 5 was pleasant but minimalist as not even any crackers for the cheese 5-parking was a big problem on the weekend. You can park on the block of the hotel which was impossible on the weekend. Free public lot was also full on a Saturday 6-staff overall was friendly and helpful but oftentimes no one at front desk to help…
I spent a considerable amount of time looking for a hotel in Carmel for our small family. I read reviews and asked friends for recommendations. I finally selected The Hideaway and I’m so glad I did! The Hideaway has an intimate “boutique” vibe with abundant amenities like a wine and cheese hour and a tasty breakfast all included. The property has been updated and feels fresh. Beds and linens were quite comfortable. There was some noise from adjoining and upstairs rooms, but certainly bearable. The staff was super nice and attentive. And the location was perfect for us — within walking distance to the amazing shops and restaurants and lovely beach. For Carmel, the rooms were priced right — not cheap, but seemed in line with the area. I highly recommend this jewel in Carmel-by-the-sea!…
The only nice thing I can say is it is the courtyard is pretty, and it is centrally located. When I showed up to check in, there was no one at the front desk, just “I’m at lunch. Call 911 if it’s an emergency, or leave a note, and I’ll address it when I get back.” Not when he will be back; not a number to call to check in. The room is just ok for the price. The “minibar” is outrageously expensive and not even a full minibar. The in room breakfast is a basket with a couple of Sam’s Club croissants, a pot of commercial coffee, and a little baggie with a couple of creamers and sugar packets. They didn’t even give us 3 cups when we were three in our room. I asked for another cup but never got it. The room is fine - not incredible but ok. It’s about like staying at a Sheraton that has a pretty courtyard.…
