We stayed in their 1 bedroom cottage. Full kitchen, living room, bedroom, attached bath. Cute little house with yard and front porch a block from the hotel and attractions/restaurants/etc. Very comfortable bed, nostalgic décor. No cable t.v. but there is a flat screen to watch DVD's on (they have ones to loan at the hotel desk) Super affordable. The only... More

INNKEEPER’S FAVOURITE REVIEW

Words cannot describe the experience of staying in City Hotel! Not only are the rooms spacious and charming, but the whole atmosphere is also an experience to cherish! We stayed in room 6 and my dad stayed in room 1 with a private balcony. He said he left the doors open in the evening and enjoyed the cool, summer night... More

If you want to stay in the center of the restored California Gold Rush town of Columbia, now a State Historic Park, the City Hotel is certainly the place to choose. (The Fallon Hotel, owned by the same concession, is similar, but it’s a couple of blocks further away from town center.) It’s restored to luxury standards for the time... More

If you're planning to visit Columbia State Historic Park, City Hotel is an excellent historic building you can actually stay in that takes you back in time; it is in fact part of the Park itself, which means you can walk out the front door and be right there! It is elegantly restored, comfortable, and has an excellent restaurant and... More

The City Hotel and Columbia are simply unforgettable. A tiny place out of time. The hotel is so beautiful and it's more like staying in a private home than an In . The beds are frighteningly comfortable. I can't really explain how enchanting it all is, you,ll have to see for yourself I guess.

I've been wanting for years to stay the night in Columbia, and finally had the chance to spend one night here with my teen daughter. I'm so glad I did! The folks working there were very friendly and our room was perfectly clean. And so comfortable! It had all the charm of a place built in 1857, yet also modern... More

My 6 year old son and I had a very nice two nights at this hotel. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and the front desk folks were very friendly and helpful. No TV, which I love, and showers down the hall!

The park did a very good job remodeling this historic hotel in a very authentic way. Period furniture, antiques and wallpaper are used throughout. Rooms have air conditioners (in the ceiling) and small bathrooms in each room with sinks and toilets. Showers are communal. It's a fun experience. We enjoyed some delicious cinnamon rolls for breakfast at the "Columbia Kate"... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Columbia City Hotel and its sister, the Fallon Hotel, are authentically restored 19th-century country inns. All rooms are elegantly appointed with Victorian antiques, custom crafted wall coverings, and beautiful lithographs. Each hotel has a sitting parlour where you can peruse books and magazines, or participate in one of many board games. While both hotels stay as faithful to 19th century decor as possible, modern conveniences such as indoor plumbing, heating. And air conditioning have been added. Each room has a half bath, and a shower basket and robes are provided for the trip down the hall to the shared shower rooms. There are also three charming cottages- a one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom- each with a full kitchen, fenced yard and DVD player. ... more   less
