Stay could have been better. Hotel was not clean. Room was certainly not clean. People were smoking on the property. Furniture was missing from my room. Was unable to get house keeping services on a 4-night stay!

Hotel's Favourite
Stayed here 1 night on our week-long leisurely from San Francisco to San Diego. We had a 2 room suite with a balcony off the bedroom and a shared patio with the suite next to ours - sliders to that off of our living area. Comfy bed and large living room with a fireplace. Huge bath with large freestanding tub and separate shower and toilet in a jumbo sized bath which were separate from the 2 sink vanity counter. Great location, weather was too cool to venture into the pool. Would definitely recommend !!

Our wonderful stay began with a visit to the upper floor Longboard Bar, where we got to experience Randi, the friendliest bartender! The service and hustle was amazing! Randi’s knowledge and ability to keep the crowd entertained and happy was wonderful. On the hotel side our room was spacious with a great ocean view, sitting area and very comfortable beds. Valet parking and in general the hotel staff was very attentive. Enjoying our stay very much.

Inattentive management and nothing is open (restaurant closes early and rooftop lounge is not open). The noise from the traffic is not comfortable. Parking is expensive at $29 and they still ask you to return to your car to place a receipt on the dash. How inconvenient!!!

Dear Trek624309gggggg, Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback about your stay with us. I apologize if the management appeared to be inattentive to your needs during your stay, however our front desk staff are more than empowered to make decisions that could have been addressed during your stay. We are in the process of opening the rooftop lounge and invite you to come join us for our opening on New Years Eve! Upon reading several reviews prior I will have to agree with some of them. Long read, stay with me. We booked this as an escape from Nebraska in December. We booked two “Ocean View” rooms. I even called to confirm prior to arriving and the person who I talked to assured me everything would be great. After an entire day of travel and pure exhaustion we check in. One of our rooms is ocean view and one of our rooms was a standard king suite. The person at the desk (who I will name if needed by management) literally told me they didn’t have any of those rooms for us (we had a room for our one adult child one minor child and one for us - the kids got the good room that we were paying for - ha). I advised that was NOT what we paid for and was not ok settling. She literally stared at me and said she didn’t know what to do. As in, didn’t even kind of want to try to make it right - zero like ZERO effort. I asked to speak to a manager. William comes in to save the day. He even read the notes on our account regarding the type of rooms we reserved and wanted back to me but something happened and that obviously didn’t happen. He explained that they didn’t have two of the same room as one was under maintenance for an AC issue (not sure why I cared at that point because neither of the rooms we stayed in had working AC) so we would have to be moved in the morning. It wasn’t a problem, we could move and were tired. The person who I confirmed our rooms with prior to arrival even called up to our wrong room apologizing left and right about the mix up. This what phenomenal customer service. Who does that? Jill does. She made sure it was right. The staff did everything they could to get us into the correct room promptly the next day and we were beyond thankful. We now had two full ocean view rooms (I get it, first world problems but I had called asking for these specific rooms specifying why several times). The rooms were spacious and faced the ocean. Many people have reported the hotel rooms needing updates. I didn’t find that to be the case. They showed standard wear and tear to be expected in a high traffic hotel based on location. The beds were fantastic and I even googled what kind of pillows they have and have two on order to be delivered to my home as I type. They were THAT comfortable. I had each room my husband and I were in set at 69°. Neither room reached below 75° with the AC on at any point of our stay. I hate hot rooms but we made the best of it. We didn’t mention the AC because I didn’t want to make another trip to the front desk and turn into a “Karen”. Our other room for our children, the AC worked fine. Jill could not have been more phenomenal. She checked in with us repeatedly throughout our stay and went above and beyond at every moment of every time we interacted with her to make us feel welcome. The housekeeping staff was equally as amazing. My daughter had a pretty rough bloody nose and needed new bedding. I asked one of the housekeepers in the hall and while it wasn’t her room she went with me immediately and changed the bedding and even made her bed. She was fantastic and I wish I would have gotten her name. Mark on the maintenance side was awesome. We were up on the 4th floor on the rooftop lookout area. He lit the fire pits and kept the propane tanks coming. He was amazing. Erin in the restaurant went over above and beyond. They have a limited breakfast menu. My daughter couldn’t find anything she would eat (she’s 17 and picky). Erin asked the cooks to make pancakes special for my daughter and it didn’t stop there. She was amazing during both of our breakfasts we had with her. The breakfast burritos are massive as are the breakfast sandwiches. We loved them both. The dinner did not disappoint. Although we would have preferred a few more choices it was evident the limited menu was a necessity based on the limited patrons. Do yourself a favor and get the fries. They. Were. Amazing. The location is across the street from the beach. It is an easy walk to the public beach and the public beach is super clean. Right in front of the hotel is a public State Park beach with campers. People call it a trailer park on other reviews. It’s not. It’s a campground - a rather nice beach front campground. Noise: the walls are paper thin. There was a reception of some kind the second to last night we were there. Slamming doors, yay alcohol screams, young adults doing what young adults do until all hours of the morning. A call to the desk after multiple hours of putting up with it put a stop to it and we were thankful. (Think 1am - enough!) Parking is ample on the lower level. Watch out for the columns for support there are a lot :). Only one elevator was working and that seems to be the trend for months after looking through the reviews. The night before we left I had some questions on my bill and Nicholas and Kim could not have been more pleasant. The sundry was completely stocked with everything anyone could need and now I am kicking myself as I forgot to grab a sweatshirt I really wanted now that we have arrived home :(. I may have to call and see if I can get it sent to me. I loved it. Rooms: awesome beds, two massive televisions, comfy couch, great balcony, AMAZING pillows (again I ordered them to be shipped to my house before even checking out), great towels. The standard rooms have a quirky shower. They have a tub/shower combo with half glass half door instead of a shower curtain. For short people (like me) it is awkward to turn it on without getting in the tub prior. Again, anyone complaining about wall scuffs, peeling wallpaper etc on previous posts just ugh. It’s a high humidity area it’s a no win for them and they can’t be faulted for that. Stand out performers: JILL!!! I can’t say how amazing she was throughout our entire stay. She literally made sure it was good from beginning to end. William for helping a very exhausted and frustrated family our first night. Erin who made both breakfasts completely wonderful and enough for us to ask for her again. Mark in maintenance who kept our propane tanks coming. Nicholas and Kim who helped us with our last billing questions. We would stay here again and would recommend it. If you are looking for the Ritz, this isn’t it. If you want a simple hotel with great views and awesome customer service, this is it. If you want amazing sunsets, this is it. It is in a wonky location drive wise but we quickly figured out the loop to get where we needed to go.
