Small place in the middle of this tiny town. Right on the river with nice views of surrounding mountains. Several events planned during the year for this cute town. Some rooms have shared shower. Very nice hosts. A small continental breakfast is included.

Thank you for staying with us as well as your favorable review. Hopefully, you can return and stay in one of our private bath rooms with a deck on the river. We're excited about the town's upcoming events i.e. Downieville Classic, and the Brewfest, both in August. Liz and Richard Halliday

Outstanding location on the North Yuba River. Could not have better hosts that are friendly and have great knowledge of the history of this Gold Rush era town. Come visit the Downieville Mountain Brewfest on Aughst 13, 2016

Thanks for the wonderful review! It's always our pleasure to extend some of our great Gold Rush history to our guest. We are grateful to meet interesting and nice guest. Also, thanks for mentioning our Downieville Brewfest coming up on August 13th. We anticipate this event selling out like last year! Best wishes, Liz and Richard Halliday

Downieville is a funky, small old gold-mining town on the edge of the Sierras and a cool place to stop. The Inn is in the middle of the action and has a nice setting on the river. Several of the rooms look out onto the river. We enjoyed our stay, but we did find a couple of items in the...

This response is way overdue, but I wanted to thank you for staying with us and appreciate you writing a review. I agree we sometimes need to kick up our continental breakfast with a bigger variety. We try to give our guest a jump start in the morning with great coffee, grains and some protein. We're bringing the O.J. or...

Right in the middle of this quaint small gold-rush town of Downieville! Owners (Liz and Richard) are on the premises, and such a wonderful couple! We arrived at 9 pm, and greeted us as if we were old friends! This was our first time stay here. Rooms a super tastefully decorated. The sound of the river is right out of...

The owners were very accommodating even though I did not know when I would arrive. The room was clean comfortable and ready when I arrived. If you have have special needs like no or limited stairs talk to the owner before making your reservation. They will help you select the best room for your needs. My wife was not able...

It's a clean, we'll run, charming Inn. The property gets an "average" rating because Downieville's charm doesn't include a high end boutique hotel. It's a rustic historical mining town. But the Carriage House Inn is definitely one of the nicer, if not nicest Inns in this part of the Gold country. And as everyone else has written the owners are...

Stayed here for an anniversary mountain biking getaway. The room was awesome. We had a deck overlooking the river shaded by a giant walnut tree that hid the inn across the river. Liz (one of the owners) was very friendly and addressed me by name every time she saw me. The free coffee in the morning was delicious (that's not...

My family and I come here a lot (almost every year) during Fall Break. The Carriage House Inn has amazing owners, who are very friendly and supportive, and the rooms are great! It is right by the river, so you can sit outside and enjoy the peaceful mornings and afternoons. Also, it is located right downtown Downieville. During the off-season,...

I have travelled through Downieville many times. It is a small town with nice people and one really good restaurant (La Cocina De Oro). But I never wanted to stay the night. After a long day of mountain biking, instead of driving home to Walnut Creek we decided to see if there were any openings at the Carriage House Inn;...

We had a great overnight stay at Carriage House Inn. We sleep all night with the river flowing outside the door, it was the best sleep ever. Liz, the owner, is very accommodating and supper friendly. We were greeted with coffee and muffins in the morning. Liz had many recommendations for things to do in town. We will recommend the...
