I've stayed here several times over the years, and it never ceases to make me happy. My family is a train family, so we especially appreciate the history of the cars themselves, as well as the history of the area.

We had a good time. Cabooses are nicely decorated and comfortable. We sleep very well. The place is well run and maintained. There is also a swimming pool and a hot tub but did not use it. During the slow season, when the restaurant is closed, is a good idea to bring some snacks and drinks. Our caboose had microwave...

Do you like trains? Well this is the place for you! I booked this place on a lark based on the description and thought it was interesting. The hotel is right off the I-5. Getting on/off was super easy. Plenty of trees and mountains and clear skies makes this a wonderful place to stay. We stay in a train room...

Thank you for your very thoughtful comments. In the winter the pool is not open, only the heated spa. The outdoor pool doesn't open until mid May and it is not heated. One good windy afternoon and we have pine needles to remove...it's an ongoing event even when the pool is closed. I hope you stop by again in our...

Beds very hard and uncomfortable (about and 8 inch mattress-cheap). Dark room. Closet area needs a light. Sink faucet loose and shower head shot water everywhere. We told front desk and expected it to be fixed but it wasnt. We stayed in #28. The tv is in a poor location to watch from the anywhere in the room. We have...

Sorry your stay was not as you expected. #28 has been looked into. The TV's were switched out and other items addressed. I can absolutely assure you that this resort has not gone "downhill". We have made extensive upgrades over the last three years and continue to do so. I appreciate your comments and they will be resolved.

This place is great, I mean you get to stay in a CABOOSE and they are pet friendly. The resort is in a great setting, right next to the creek, with a little stream running through the property. Amazing view of Castle Crags as well! We liked this place so much we booked another night for our return trip four...

The cabooses are perfectly equipped, the scenery is terrific, and the lounge in the dining car makes great drinks at great prices. Highly recommend checking this place out for just one night or multiple nights.

We already love Dunsmuir, but finding this little gem makes it even better. Our caboose (#12) had a double cupola with a view of Castle Crags. Great for coffee, reading, just hanging out. It snowed as we arrived and in the morning snow covered everything. We had dinner here and enjoyed some local firemen's Christmas party which went on during...

The wife and I had a great stay here. This was our last stop on a week long journey through Oregon and back into California. We stayed in car #12. Very clean and comfortable room. Our only regret was not being able to experience dinner here, we did take a tour of the dinner cars and the inside looks amazing....
