I read a lot of review saying this hotel is too old and dirty. I chose it anyway because it's a very convenient location to go to Yosemite valley. I didn't regret my choice. My room was clean. It wasn't brand new but it was close to a lot of motel I did in the USA. The place is nice,... More

Firstly, it's a stretch calling it El Portal. That's a good 10 mins closer to Yosemite than cedar lodge. The hotel is large, if ordinary, but quite expensive. We booked on line and our price was higher than all the other clients we spoke to ($198US). The bar and grill and the restaurant offer identical menu and EVERYTHING including the... More

Lots of things didn't work in our room- broken hairdryer, "dead" in room phone for the 3 days we were there (and $10. per device wifi charge), towels that were "bare" and torn and a refrigerator that sounded like a freight train. Not comfortable and expensive since they have a captive Yosemite visitor audience.

This was a very old style hotel but perfect for a short stay visiting Yosemite. The bed was comfortable and bath room a good size but the shower pressure was very poor. However - for the cost it was warm and friendly .

WIFI costs a lot of money ($10 per device for 24 hours!!!) and there is no cellular reception so you can't rely on 4G!! The room was really small, wasn't very clean, the water pressure in the shower was bad... Not a nice experience :(

We enjoyed our stay at the Cedar Lodge. The location is excellent. We hiked the Half Dome so we were really happy to sleep so close to the park. However ... the bathroom was not clean. It was full of hair from the previous guest(s). The fridge smelled really bad. Given the relatively big price compared to our other stays... More

Stayed one night while touring Yosemite National Park. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. Ideal accommodation for young families also. However avoid the restaurant at all costs! The food was of an extremely low standard.

The room was nice, but you had to pay for wifi which you could barely get email on and the laundry was 7 miles away with only 2 working washing machines and 1 working dryer. Even though we didn't get our money back we only stayed 1 of the 2 nights.

Room was warm and spacious. As this is a country hotel there's not a lot of facilities nearby but the hotel had a restaurant which had a good breakfast buffet available and fast food available at night. Nice bar.

I can't agree with many of the previous reviews. Sure, this place is not luxury, but it advertises itself as a 2* place nothing more. And to be honest, if your expectation is a 2* place, you will be positively disappointed. It is a nice place. It is exactly what you need to discover the Yosemite Valley. Rooms are spacious... More
