The constructions was more invasive than we had imagined. The terrace room was charming but small. The big plus for us was the very helpful staff, very helpful bell-boy, and Samantha at the check-in desk. Might visit again when the construction is over. Not much happening in Garberville. We stayed at the Historic Benbow Inn on our way down the coast from Oregon into California. It is right by the Avenue of the Giants, which is a drive one should have on one's bucket list! We had stayed here about 20 years ago, and our return was everything we remembered and more. We had a room with a...

We stayed in the Benbow Historic Inn for one night on Mother’s Day, but coming from the UK we were not celebrating Mother’s Day! Friends in California had told us that it was the only place to stay for our trip to the “Avenue of the Giants”. Sadly, it was not the good experience that we were lead to believe!...

Even in the midst of construction, this place is just adorable! We stayed in the Cottage, and enjoyed great views, private7 deck, and a roaring fireplace! The service was great, and we loved the food in the restaurant! We will definitely be back!!'

We had not been to the Benbow Inn for many years and despite the construction work going on, had a lovely visit. The room in the Inn was very comfortable; the staff is friendly, professional and gracious; the food is delicious. We had dinner and brunch at the Inn. The coffee that is available in the lobby in the morning...

The Benbow Inn has been a mainstay for travelers driving up Hwy 101. The three and half hour drive is picturesque from the time you leave Marin County. Once at the Inn, which is easily found, the charming rustic place is a nice rustic retreat along the Eel River. This year, although the hotel is undergoing renovations of adding a...

This was our third stay. Undergoing some renovations and expansion. Still the place to stay for exploring the Avenue of the Giants, the Huboldt and Rockefeller forests. The terrace rooms are all the same, facing the river with space and decks. Dining is good, the dining room beautiful. (Only suggestion is to dim the chandeliers for dinner). Public spaces reflect...

Great to stay in a 'one off' hotel. So many hotels make you feel that you could be anywhere, every room, every lobby, every restaurant is identical, you could be anywhere in the world. It's so refreshing to stay somewhere unique. Yes, there's a lot of building work going on, but unless you're going to lie in bed all day......and...

I'm a local resident. They are renovating which is only a minor issue. We sat at the new bar and had some good food. The issue I had was a medium top shelf drink( bulleit and whiskey) was fifteen dollars! We don't have that many fine places to dine at ; there are a few other places and ten is...

It was getting late, and my wife and I were finishing up our drive through Avenue of the Giants. We like staying in historic hotels, but we had not planned to stay at one during our Seattle to Glendale, California trek. Then, Benbow Historic Inn popped up on TripAdvisor. A few recent reviews were not favorable, but we decided to...
