We stayed overnight, splitting up a long drive. Booking was fuss free; deposit taken with account to be settled on departure. Easily found and good facilities - gratis beverages made in guest lounge - which has advantages - with a selection of quality local products. We took a gentle stroll along the village, which reasonably claims to be the site...

Visited whilst on holiday because of the good reviews. Very disappointed with the food. Service was good although, they never asked if our meals were ok both during or at the end. My starter was mackerel not much bigger than 2 postage stamps. It was tasteless with garnish of asparagus. My favourite, i might add. that was sliced into several...

We visited for 2 nights due to a wedding very close by. The hotel was in a good location, with plenty of off street parking. The room was impeccably clean and spacious, with a lovely bathroom, and good quality furnishings. The bed was a little firm for us, but we slept very well none the less. The breakfast in the...

Had lunch here recently as a birthday treat. Food not as good as last time. To be honest, not worth the money any more. Not much on the plate and yet still expensive. Very disappointed with our visit. We may try again at some later date.

Just driving past at lunchtime we pulled over to 'have a look' and wandered in. As it was Mother's Day they were unfortunately, and expectedly, fully booked; however they promptly made us up a table and couldn't have been more welcoming! The menu advised it was all local produce & they had a lovely selection of real ales on tap....

Stayed here for one night earlier this month and ate in the restaurant. The room was a superior double. The bed was very comfortable and the room warm, shower room small but shower good. There was a small sitting area for use with tea, coffee etc. on the landing. The food was amazing. The cheese and spinach souffle in chive...

We have visited this restaurant on several occasions , sadly on this occasion the meal was over priced for what we got. One wrong order and one friend only ate starters as nothing on main menu. Usually excellent on this occasion the blackboard specials and main menu were disappointing. However lovely staff great atmosphere but price and quality didn't match...

Ate here a few weeks ago and had an excellent roast beef, Yorkshire pud. etc. Sunday lunch. The beef was excellent, pink, tender, delicious. So why, oh why do they drown it in gravy? Just bring the gravy in a nice little jug and I'll decide how much gravy I want to put on it. The place was very busy...

Lunch for four, mains and deserts plus drinks. Two fish and chips off the specials board and two poached pollock. The fish and chips were great, crispy batter and tasty fish so big it was almost too big for the plate. The poached pollock with asparagus and wild garlic mash was exceptional. The apple crumble desert was also very good....
