We have travelled all over the world and like a bit of funk to spice things up but the JT Inn leaves a lot to be desired. We stayed for 3 nights in Rocky Vista - four of us. Positives - the place is spacy and the furnishings are generally comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed if you want to...

We are glad that you found our accommodations comfortable and our location to be convenient. Rocky Vista is a vacation house on a private acre within easy walking distance to the inn. Everything in that house is new and super clean, so we are confused by your reference to "funkiness". I guess you have your own definition. In response to...

Joshua Tree Inn is a 66-year-old desert property with an interesting connection to country rock songwriter Gram Parsons. He escaped the LA music scene with getaways to the inn. It's where he died of a morphine overdose in 1972. The revered musician is memoralized with posters and memorabilia in the lobby, and with a guitar sculpture outside Room 8, where...

Thank you for your comments. We are glad that you appreciate the cultural history and that you understand how nice it would be in warmer weather to enjoy the pool, the gardens and the private patios. We are also pleased that you enjoyed the community room and coffee, tea and granola bars :) The Spanish colonial architecture (1949) protects the...

I spend a lot of time in corporate hotels and I wanted to get away to Joshua Tree with the family. As a last minute Thanksgiving trip, we packed up the bags and headed to California. I wanted to stay somewhere that wasn't a corporate hotel but was comfortable and had the charm of a family place. This fit the...

This time we stayed in the "Donovan Suite", with 2 separate bedrooms, 1 bath, a sofa bed, dining area, private patio & full kitchen. Incredible room for the price, but regardless of which room you have this exceptional inn with a "cosmic" rock & roll vibe is the place to stay when visiting JT...special shoutout to the staff, who are...

After learning about the Joshua Tree Inn from a motorcycle review story, I put a visit on my to do list. I usually try to support older and historic places while traveling, and the Inn is a wonderful one to support. It has tastefully preserved the story of Gram Parsons' love of the Inn, and I was glad that I...

I really enjoyed my stay at the Joshua tree inn. The lady at the front desk, who helped us choose our room, was very gracious & friendly. Her name was Deedee - a warm & welcoming person. After you've been on the road all day, it's nice to be greeted by someone like her. The inn was charming & peaceful....

I don't want to keep going on about this place, but this is my third stay in this little oasis of tranquility. Four nights here and I'm ready for the next year. No frills or luxury, but comfortable rustic accommodation in beautiful gardens surrounded by desert views. Thanks particularly to Dee Dee and Terina. Unless things deteriorate,or get even better,...

Went there for the history and was not disappointed. Was great atmosphere, friendly staff and a real sense of peace. Was a comfortable room and you could feel the love of those who visited before us. The courtyard was really comfortable as was the private outside space for each room. Take a trip back in time, give your regards to...

They said it was kitschy. It was just poor cheap taste. They only let me use 2 of the 3 bedrooms although it was advertised as a 3 bedroom house. When we used the pool down the road at the motel we had no bathroom access. They sent us to a nearby porta-potty! Seriously, they had a bathroom but it...

We are sorry that you did not care for the house, but your crude characterization is totally uncalled for and mean-spirited. We understand that you started off upset because all of our Inn rooms were occupied, and the Villa is a 5 minute walk down the back road to our pool. We understand that you were upset that the pool...

...that's unspoiled in a good way. Rating 5 for the ambiance, comfort, and effort to maintain a local feeling for travellers. For the most part, the facilities are fresh and colorful, everything works, and the beds are comfy. The hostess (owner?) is super-helpful and friendly. The rooms are arranged like a classic 60's "motor court" but instead of facing a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Joshua Tree Inn, built in 1950, is a Hacienda Style inn conveniently located just six miles from the grandeur of Joshua Tree National Park. The Inn has long been known for the warmth, charm, and comfortable lodging it provides for guests visiting California's extraordinary Mojave Desert. The Inn is laid out in a square horseshoe that provides privacy for all of our guests. All of our eleven rooms are on ground level, facing our desert courtyard and large pool. Our decor is eccentrically eclectic. The Inn is the site of the legendary Gram Parsons Room, where the beloved and respected musician/songwriter spent his last hours. Room 8 still offers a quintessential "Cosmic American Experience" to fans of the father of Alt-country rock. On the peach colored wall hangs the same mirror and picture that hung in the room back in 1973. The Joshua Tree Inn features a large swimming pool, as well as our peaceful zen courtyard & koi pond, plus dining room access & gift shop. We also provide complimentary coffee, tea, & morning snacks for our guests. All of our charming rooms include: Private Patios ... more   less
