Wonderful stay at The Independence. We were here for two days and the experience was amazing. The property is having a lush green landscape with an infinity pool known as Ocean Pool to relax in the scorchy heat of Cambodia...

We stayed here for our final 5 nights during our road trip through Cambodia. This hotel is surrounded by nature. Tropical Gardens and rainforest on one side and the ocean on the other. It opened in 1964 and Jacqueline Kennedy visited this hotel in November of 1967. And even though it was allegedly not used for some 30 years, one can still see small hints here and there, that reveal the age of this hotel. It is well kept, no doubt, but it is cleary not a new property (one of the two elevators broke down). They do make constant improvements and renovations. Such as the Sunset Ocean View Restaurant, which was renovated not too long ago. We were able to enjoy our breakfast und dinner there.
It is just sooo relaxing to eat your meal at the oceanside with such a fantastic view. The staff was very pleasant, helpful, friendly and polite! The breakfast buffet had everything one expects (Coffee, tea, a selection of fresh juices, various fresh fruits, cereal, omelette station, different types of eggs, sausage, bacon, vegetables, etc.). We were on the 6th floor in the main building, Our room was very spacious with a great view of the garden and ocean. It was clean and very quiet, so we always had a good night's sleep. We spent our days at the beach, our late afternoons/early evenings (happy hour!!!) at the pool and evenings at the Sunset Ocean View Restaurant. The food (dinner) there was very tasty. If you don't find anything on their menue, you can take a short walk down the beach. There are a view waterfront restaurants there that have good, fresh food for little money. After dinner you can enjoy a late evening stroll on the 22 acre premises.
All in all, we can recommend this hotel!

Beautiful surroundings, spacious rooms, amazing staff, great food -this hotel is an oasis in the chaos of Sihanoukville as it is now.
Views from the 6th floor are stunning and my room was very comfortable.
The food and wine were good and staff in both restaurants and the Ocean Pool bar were so helpful and friendly. A special mention for Somira in the Coral Restaurant and Panun at the Sunset Terrace. In fact, all the staff were fantastic and a credit to the hotel.
I spent much of my time on the beautiful private beach which is clean and the sea is fantastic -no jellyfish or blackwater like some Asian beaches I've been to.
Much as I love living in Phnom Penh, this is somewhere I'll definitely visit again to escape the city and recharge my batteries.

The service of the staff is discussing.
I have never seen such under trained workers anywhere.
Staff are always on their phones, hiding, asleep on the job in front of customers!! Waited 25min for lunch, chips and 4 chicken wings paid $7us and it was cold!!!

Waited 30 min to get a golf cart to help with our bags to check out.
The place is beautiful, but the poor food and lack of service is atrocious. Do not waste your money here.

Knowing little about Sihanoukville, my family booked this place to enjoy a quiet getaway. We later discovered that in the loud, dirty and seedy city, Independence Hotel is a breath of fresh air. As casinos have moved in, Western tourists have started to vacation on the islands. Independence Hotel may be one of the only places in Sihanoukville with a spectacular view (it's angled so you can't see the abandoned skyscrapers), and a clean, safe, family-friendly atmosphere. The multi-layered infinity pool was absolutely incredible, and most welcome, as the waters of the beach were too dirty to swim in. The breakfast buffet was delicious, the gym surprisingly full of new and high end equipment, and the spa offered a nice assortment of massages and treatments, a sauna, steam room, and hot & cold jacuzzis. Our two teenagers enjoyed the ping pong table, pool table, and hiking the vast premises where they saw beautiful flora and plenty of monkeys. Every staff member was kind and courteous. From photos on the wall of the hotel, you can see that the glory days of Independence Hotel may be in the past (Jackie Kennedy supposedly stayed here), and yet there is still much charm. It's a place we are rooting for. If you want a luxury stay for an affordable price, and are fine not leaving the premises, then Independence Hotel is for you.

The resort has all amenities you need for a wellness holiday on a high level (own sand beach with high-wave ocean breakers, pool landscape with infinity pool, sunset view restautrant, spa). The most important aspect certainly is the very attentive and friendly staff, particularly the Guest Manager Liubov Ivanova, who does everything to make the guests satisfied. I got an upgrade to a premier room in the upper floor with a nice view over the ocean and the hotel garden (with cute monkeys and cats by the way). The breakfast is very good and manifold. Regarding the surrounding city (Sihanoukville), there is no need to write more as there are enough reviews on all platforms.

This is an excellent hotel for young families. The breakfast range was comprehensive catering for both Asian & European clients even if some of the items were not of the highest quality, it would suit most families. The hotel pools on the sea front were stunning as was the beech by the sea front restaurant. Ideal for the very young and the proficient swimmer. Clean and in good order with toilet facilities are on hand. The hotel rooms were in very good condition. The sea view restaurant cooks all the meal individually and therefor you need to order in advance if you have very young children as you will wait for at least 30 minutes before your food arrives. Some of the dishes were fabulous however you could order the same dish a day later and find it disappointing. I would definitely recommend this hotel for families. A very sad fact is that the hotel staff who we saw worked very hard and were friendly at all times are housed in shocking low standard accommodation blocks on site.

Lovely small private beach with chairs and towels and bar service. Wonderful swimming pool complex with beautiful sunset views. Decent breakfast. Big rooms. Reception staff not very helpful with poor English - no restaurant recommendations, broken TV remote never replaced, laundry not picked up in time, no answer when we requested airport transfers. Fairly clean but be prepared for many insects also inside the room. Fun to see monkeys when taking the open shuttle from the reception to our room.

I stayed at Independence Hotel by Dara for three nights and I was very impressed by their service and facilities. The hotel is located in a beautiful area, overlooking the sea and surrounded by lush greenery. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a balcony that offered a stunning view of the sunset. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive, always ready to assist me with anything I needed. The breakfast buffet was delicious and varied, with a mix of local and international dishes. The hotel also has a beach, a swimming pool, a spa, and a fitness center, which I enjoyed very much. I would highly recommend Independence Hotel by Dara to anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious stay in Sihanoukville. It was one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had.

First time stay at this Iconic 60's Seaside Resort Hotel in Sunny Sihanoukville, Cambodia. The location on a hillside adjacent to Independence Beach was another drawcard. Beautiful scenery from all aspects of the resort made the stay more relaxing and tranquil. The ocean pool was absolutely stunning, especially during sunset and in the early evening. The surrounding tropical rainforests was beautiful as well, with quite a few playful "resident macaques" swinging themselves around throughout the entire resort.

The buffet breakfasts in Coral Restaurant were relaxing with a very large array of food, even a la carte breakfast offerings. Staff were friendly and courteous as well. The staffs' level of English proficiency was amazing as was their work practices. It was wonderful to have the golf cart escort when staying in the forest villas as well, made the trek to the restaurant for breakfast even more enjoyable.

Will definitely return for another visit. Congratulations to the Management Team. Keep up the good work.
