The Prince resort was big and has a few areas, such as the Prince East, which is newer I think, and the west, which is a bit older.. Thus, we were grateful for the hotel shuttle service that regularly loops the place, as we used it to go to and fro the outlet mall, the train station, the hot spring, etc. The room we had was a ground floor twin in The Prince hotel and the room was huge. Even though it was cheaper than our Tokyo hotel, it was more than triple the size! We also had big full length windows looking out onto a pond with beautiful trees and ducks and birds flying freely around. We just had to draw open the curtains, and can sit down on the sofa area to enjoy " park views". So nice and peaceful and scenic. The bed was double the size of other hotels in Tokyo too and the bathroom and pantry were very spacious. They were also generous with the good quality room amenities. We like that we could get on the free regular shuttle buses to go to the station, the mall , the hot spring, etc. We did not eat at the hotel as we had heard meals were expensive there. Anyway, the food at the Karuizawa outlet mall was also very good. We had originally come to see the sakuras in the second week of April but, none could be seen. The scenery outside our windows was like a winter backdrop instead, everything was covered in white still. It was unexpected at the time of the year, but still beautiful... We were very thankful for the hotel service staff, both at the hotel itself and the train station/mall customer service office. We arrived after lunch on the train from Tokyo, and tcould leave our luggage at the office and just go to the outlet mall to shop and eat. When we checked in, our bags were already in our room. On the day we checked out, we were very impressed by their service attitude. Sometimes on our trips, we would bring along old clothes and bags, etc to use so that we could " throw" them away after use, to make space in our luggage for our shopping. So we did likewise this time, and the hotel cleaners actually packed up all these items thinking we had forgotten them, sent them to the train station, chased us right onto the shinkansen platform, in order to pass them to us.... oops so sorry, we felt so bad for the entire episode. Thank you so much, the man who brought the things to us , as well as the very lovely and elegant lady at the Prince Hotel customer service centre at the outlet mall, who kept chasing us. We feel very very bad for giving you so much extra work and we are very touched you did go to all that trouble just to return our stuff to us. Appreciate all the extra mile that you literally had to run for us.....BIG THANK YOU! Will definitely come back for another stay. Actually, we really like the Prince hotels in Japan. We stayed at the Prince Hotel at Hakone two times on previous trips. Same thing, lovely hotel grounds and gardens, great views, big rooms, big beds, though can see abit of aging in the hotel, it was still clean and well maintained. Hope they remain so for many more years!…
