right from the start a different experience, as you walk through the woods to the main entrance( disabled visitors can drive straight to the entrance ) enter through the portcullis into a never before experienced castle visit, everything is open to view and not locked behind glass, really open close up experience of medieval Britain right up to present everyday...

I was brought here as a surprise for my birthday, I had no clue where we were going or staying. It was a really pleasant drive upto the castle and we were greeted in castle style to large iron gates and a tree lined drive to the castle. Its an aesthetically pleasing castle to look at from the front with...

Just returned from our excursion to Chillingham Castle.A fantastic day was had by all...The place is steeped in history from when Longshanks stayed right up to the present day...The dungeon was very interesting....There is not much rhyme or reason to a lot stuff that is strewn about but that adds to the candor of the place....This is British aristocracy at...

Today was the 4th time in 10 years that we have visited the castle this time with our 6year old son. We love this chaotic eccentric castle, with all it's oddities that have been collected over the years. We love all Northumberland castles with their history's fine rooms, gardens or ruins Chillingham is just as fantastic but in an entirely...

A day trip to castle, open at 12 o'clock. We went to tearoom first for lunch. It is tearoom that only belongs to castle. Wonderful! Could not stop to take Picts. I love everything keep the way as it is, very different from normal museum. And it is spooky as well. The letters from visitors who took items from castle...

Visited with my husband on a wet June afternoon, so didn't get to see gardens. The castle however is memorable. Some of the rooms are just full of 'stuff'- costumes ,cast off furniture, photos, anything in fact used by previous occupants over the years. The owner has tried to label things himself but it is a bit off a jumble. Worth...

We combined the wild cattle and the castle on a day trip and neither disappointed. The castle is vast and very much a work in progress still, it is filled with random collections of the most varied items imaginable. The owner is clearly very committed to this castle but probably quite eccentric as well! There are really interesting items in...

The 12th century Castle is a cross between Stately Home/Torture Chamber/Formal Gardens/Junk Shop and there's a surprise awaiting you around every corner. On the ground floor you'll find the Dungeon and across the courtyard the torture chamber complete with a collection of torture instruments and various dummies being subject to painful activities; this is not for the faint hearted. In...

Visited the castle with a joint ticket to see the wild cattle. The castle itself is an amazing place , full of the most random stuff. A gruesome torture chamber which I was assured was haunted. A very interesting visit. The cafe in the castle with massive own fire was great too. Massive portions of food and reasonably priced. Didn't...

We have been visiting the castle for six years now and it's still my favourite place for a peaceful overnight stay. I was delighted when my husband announced he had booked the castle as the venue for us to have a renewal of our wedding vows, a second wedding really as we didn't quite get it right the first time!...
