I've stayed in many hotels in the past four years and I have to say this one has been by far, my favorite. I stayed here in 2015, during my first time in LA. The hotel itself was so fun to explore, art and beautiful decoration everywhere, from a Botero in the lobby's bathroom to beautifully decorated elevators. Every room... More

We stayed here during our first time in LA and were fascinated by how everything was within walking distance. only a couple steps away from the Staples Center which allow my daughter to attend a concert she had been looking forward to for a while without worrying about parking, etc. The service was amazing. The hotel's decoration is beyond beautiful,... More

I stayed at this hotel in 1972 and it reeked of Hollywood and I loved it. It was hardly an upmarket hotel but I had very fond memories. The staff were fantastic and I still remember the elderly bellboy, the lady in the gift shop and several other characters. But look at it now. They have totally ruined the abience... More

Dear skeller876, We are excited to let you know that Hotel Figueroa is currently closed for renovation and is being restored back to its original grandeur from the 1920's that was overhauled in the 1980's for the Moroccan-themed decor. We hope to welcome you back to stay with us when we re-open. Best, Clay Andrews More

This place is really apartments which also serve as a hotel which means no lobby, restaurant, convenience area, nothing. I have been given one towel and a broken coffee maker. My view in building A is of a parking lot. It is next door to the train station so it's also loud! The good news is that the actual apartment... More

Amazing service, beautiful clean room, cool nightlife right in the venue but not too loud if you don't want to partake (which we didn't one night) and stops at a suitable time :) central locations, yummy breakfast! Honestly can't wait for it to re-open so I can stay again. Will always be my go-to recommendation for friends.

The hotel was a bit dated and dark but it's under construction now and cannot wait to go back!!! For the price I couldn't have asked for much more. The location was amazing I'm from NYC and found my way to the metro rail and got to see all the sights! I was minutes from Hollywood and even took the... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
An unexpected oasis amidst an urban metropolis, Hotel Figueroa is a timeless and enduring gem in downtown Los Angeles. Located just a stone's throw from L.A. Live, Staples Center, and the Los Angeles Convention Center, this beloved downtown LA hotel is a true classic, a place that embraces the multicultural history and old-school glamour of southern California, while still remaining friendly, genuine, and completely unpretentious. Hotel Figueroa is one of the most stunning and photogenic boutique hotels in downtown Los Angeles. Built in 1925, the building retains much of its original Spanish Mediterranean architecture and is accentuated by a dramatic decor with rich colors and intricate patterns. Elegant archways with glowing lanterns lead into the hotel lobby, resplendent with its coffered ceilings and ornately painted tiles. The rooms and suites, unique in their bold and colorful style offer the perfect respite from exploring Los Angeles. The city itself is right at the doorstep to Hotel Figueroa. Our L.A. boutique hotel is a gateway to all that is downtown Los Angeles, a burgeoning center of arts, culture, dining, and nightlife. Just across the street is L.A. Live, home to Nokia Theatre, Staples Center, and the Los Angeles Convention Center. The neighborhood is also abundant with restaurants, cafes, bars, lounges, and clubs. From Michelin-starred chefs and multicultural cuisine to whiskey bars and sultry speakeasies, it's no wonder that GQ magazine calls downtown Los Angeles "America's Next Great City." So whether you're heading downtown for business, pleasure or you simply want to enjoy the Lakers game-Hotel Figueroa promises a stay that has that authentic L.A. feel and is truly unforgettable. ... more   less
