Fantastic place. Rooms are unique with their own vibe, good lighting, sensual feel. The outdoor patio, with a lush garden, is ideal for late afternoon wine and early morning coffee. Staff is easy going and extremely helpful. Location is near it all.

My wife and I stayed at the Prospect recently and were frustrated by our experience. Mystery charges appeared and disappeared on our credit card throughout the week but everything was explained after check out but when we asked during our stay about the charges, we were told 3 different answers by three different people. The hotel advertises street parking but that is barely an option. The real options are paid parking at the hotel or a garage two blocks away, which was never mentioned by the staff so that you would park with them. One night of our stay, music was blaring all night in the courtyard. It turned out not to be a guest but the hotel! The walls are also paper thin and we could hear everything in the rooms next to us and every footstep above us. The covid protocols were never made clear such as if you want your room cleaned. And lastly, their advertised "pastry breakfast" was the same bland croissant every day. For the price and promised experience, I think the Prospect can do a lot better.

Lovely stay. Esau is amazing. Never saw the manager but it seems like he’s around too. Clean, quiet and safe for being smack dab in the middle of Hollywood. Lovely courtyard. Wish each room had a desk and or comfy chair - but that can always be added.

Lovely little hotel... quiet, charming, an oasis in the middle of the madness that is Hollywood. Staff was excellent... just the right amount of attention and friendliness. Rooms could use a few improvements in terms of amenities, but over all an excellent two night stay.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights at the Prospect Hollywood hotel in mid-October 2021. We loved the hotel and highly recommend it if you are looking for a quiet, calm place to escape the crowds and bustle of L.A. There are many things we found special and unique with this boutique hotel. - Convenient, safe location: The recently renovated 1930’’s apartment building in Whitney Heights is so unassuming that we drove by it the first time. There is only a little sign on the corner of the property letting you know you are in the right place, and the building is tucked away on a quiet residential street. Look for the red door with the black and white striped awnings. At the same time, the hotel is only a block off Hollywood Boulevard and less than a quarter mile from the 101 Hollywood Freeway. The neighborhood feels very safe and quiet. - Low-key but friendly, personal service – this property only has 24 rooms and does not have a large staff. When we went arrived in the lobby to check in, it took a couple minutes for someone to arrive. But every staff member we dealt with was down-to-earth and friendly, without any formality or pretentiousness. When you walk in the lobby you get an explosion of color that is fun, not gaudy. The front desk person helped carry our luggage up to our second-floor room while explaining the dining offerings, parking etc. When we got to our room soft music was playing and the general manager had taken the time to leave a personalized, hand-written note welcoming us to the hotel, a personal touch all too rare these days in our experience. - Luxurious, fun, glamorous, beautiful room – we stayed in a Deluxe room, with pictures of Greta Garbo. The pictures on the hotel’s website and those I’ve included give you an idea of the unique old-style décor. The bed, linens and pillows were very comfortable, the hidden honor bar had high end wine glassware, and lots of local drink and food options. The bathroom was very large, all tiled, with a good amount of closet and shelve space for hanging and storing clothes, and the shower had great water pressure. You can relax in the comfortable, plush bathrobe when you’re in for the night. The rooms were very quiet – we couldn’t hear guests in adjacent rooms or in the courtyard. - Lush, quiet, and relaxing private courtyard: the inner courtyard was probably my favorite aspect of the Prospect Hotel. The courtyard is lined with lush palm trees and other plants, has couches and chairs in the middle to sit and visit or read a book while enjoying a drink or a snack, with an upper terrace in a more private area with lounge chairs. One night as we were sitting in the corner of the courtyard warming up by the firepit one of the hotel staff volunteered to make us chocolate chip cookies. Again, a personal, thoughtful touch. We looked forward to regrouping in the peace of the courtyard each time we returned from our activities in L.A. - Valet parking: there are very few places to park your car on nearby streets and I did not see any nearby public parking garages or lots. So, we used the valet service for $35 which seemed reasonable for L.A. We never had to wait more than a couple minutes for the hotel staff to bring around our car. Minor quibbles: - A complimentary breakfast with a pastry from a local bakery and either orange or green juice was a nice touch. During our 3 mornings the only pastry each day was a butter croissant. It was very fresh and flakey. It would be even nicer if there were a few different pastries to choose from. Of course, it may be that the other options were taken by other guests before we made our way to the lobby. - Unless we just couldn’t figure it out, the television did not have any streaming services, e.g., Hulu, Roku, Amazon Prime, etc. We were able to watch Netflix on our personal laptops. - There was no coffee maker in the room, so you had to go down to the lobby to get coffee. I always like to have the option of making a cup of coffee in the room as we get ready to leave for the day.
