We are two young italian sisters and we decided to come back to LA for the second time on june 2008, we were looking for a hotel that was in the centre but not too expensive and we found the Kawada. It is in downtown, just few steps from the subway, so is well linked with hollywood, universal studios, and...

My experience at the Kawada Hotel in Los Angeles was okay but not all that great. The staff were courteous, and the rooms were in good shape. However, if you are looking to stay there for business, I must caution that the windows are not well insulated for sound, so if you're a light sleeper, chances are that you might...

Positives were a vending machine on one of the levels, free internet access twice a day for 10 mins, staff were mostly nice to us, willing to help out with booking for tours etc which was cool, clean rooms, cleans sheets, a really big bathroom...

We stayed in the Kawada for 6 nights and firstly I would like to say that the staff at the Kawada were very nice and friendly, they helped us to plan our stay in LA. The room smelt very smokey every time we entered our room although the room was cleaned and bedding changed every day. The location was not...

hmmmmmm, a bit of a strange one, staying in downtown is not really helpful - staying near hollywood boulevard would have been better. Had to pay $15 per day extra for Parking - so would have preffered to use that money for a better location, and you have to use the valet. Staff a bit distant, but would help if...

this was an awful, 80's hotel in the worst location. although the room was clean enough, it was absolutely tiny. could have put up with this if it wasnt for the, frankly frightening area it was in. we had booked up for 9 nights (and paid) but only managed 4 nights before cutting out losses and paying for a different...

My husband and I stayed at Kawada as it seemed like it would be close to the attractions in LA while we were on our holiday for 5 days. When we arrived at the hotel we were greeted OK. The reception area was very 1970/80's. We were told that we had to pay for parking ($15+tax per night!). My husband...

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
