Not much to look at from the outside, but this hotel (and staff) pleasantly surprised us. Just two blocks from Union Station (from where you can easily get to anywhere), Chinatown (v.safe, even at night), and Skid Row (few derro's but they don't seem to bother anyone). The area's a bit like "little Mexico" but the locals are v.friendly. Hotel's... More

For the price and location - I can't complain! My room was clean, comfortable and quiet (well, as quiet as Downtown LA is ever going to be). I chose this hotel as I needed to catch an early morning Amtrak train from Union Station, so you can't beat it for proximity to Union Station (easy 5 minute walk). The breakfast... More

Great for a stay over and catching a train the next day. Adequate. Nothing glamorous and not a preferred place. Outdated. That said the staff is very truthfully and Helpful. Seemed to be stuck in the 1970s. Was told there was a breakfast but didn't get to try it due to our Time constraints

Inset of building ment you had two windows . Had some what of a view. Staff was great. We got in early morning. [ 8:00 AM ] Walked to... More

We stayed here because we decided to take the Amtrak down for another one of my husband's visits to the USC medical center, and this hotel was conveniently located near Union Station. The service was good; however, the room was extremely outdated and old. Our air/heating unit did not work, so we had to keep our window open, which made... More

The Metro Plaza Hotel provides adequate accommodations. It is clean and fairly comfortable. The hallways need some deodorizer on the carpets but there is no odor problem in the room. The room itself is pretty roomy and it has a table and desk. I had to work at the table because there is no power supply at the desk to... More

Have traveled all over the country and have stayed in many hotels, resorts, etc. I stayed in this hotel on two separate occasions a week apart. Both times, desk service was excellent. Room was acceptable for location. This is a good place to stay if you have a layover through Union Station.

The hotel was within easy walking distance to Union station (and Amtrak) and also not too far from downtown LA. The Flyaway bus leaves/arrives at the back of Union station and is a cheap ($7) trip to/from the airport. My comments regarding breakfast are the same as "Sueexplore's" review. Our room on the fourth floor was small but adequate with... More
