It is for sure an older building. This is obvious once you walk in. The room was fair sized for my girlfriend and I. The bathroom was small. It was cheaper than other other place near by. It was in walking distance of all the places we wanted to go. It will do.

The STILLWELL is very old, but maintained so that everything works. My room was clean and roomy, but it would have been much more comfortable with a comfortable chair to sit in. The price is much better than for other lodgings near the Convention Center, where my meetings were. The individual room air conditioner was needed to avoid stuffiness, but... More

The downtown LA location is great. The hotel itself? The front desk staff was welcoming and helpful, the hotel was quite at night, the water pressure was good, and the bed was firm. Nothing fancy. Can't call it quaint. It is adequate.

We recently had theater tickets and didn't want to drive 2 hours home. The price for the room was hundreds of dollars less than most of the other hotels on the same street. Granted it is old and reminded me of a dorm room,, but it was extremely clean and quiet. There was plenty of parking next door. The two... More

For the price, the location was okay. I was expecting the metro to be more useful but Los Angeles really isn't the most accessible city by metro and this hotel was a ten minute walk from the nearest metro station. Still, this is the best location for those traveling by public transportation. The fact that breakfast and coffee is not... More

I stayed at the Stillwell hotel for one night. Go to a hostel or AirBnB instead. The terrible and poor reviews are accurate. The AC did not work well and was extremely loud as it attempted to work. There was very little water pressure in the shower. This is a budget hotel. There is no iron or hair dryer. It... More

We live in Long Beach and wanted to get away for a quick "Staycation ". We wanted to try some things different which included going to a Korean Spa ( Spa Palace), exploring different food places, and just relaxing. The Stillwell Hotel was a perfect choice for us. Located in Downtown L.A., on 9th and Grand it was close to... More

I was happy with the 2:00 pm check-in. The feel of the place was pleasant. I loved the old world charm. The room was great! It had a flat screen TV, fridge and microwave. The air conditioner worked well and was very quiet. The view from the ninth floor of the city scape was breathtaking. The bed was new and... More

I have stayed at the Stillwell Hotel several times throughout the Years, fortunately, for me because the rates were affordable for a Hotel in that area of Los Angeles. The location was in close enough Proximity to the Convention Center to walk to the Winter NAMM Convention; however, because of all of the freebees and literature back then, i preferred... More

This is an old hotel and, somehow, is like going back in time LOL. Nevertheless is secure, clean and very (very) well located. Two blocks from a Metro station, three from L.A. Live and Staples Center. It's a very good option considering price/quality relation. Take into account that other 5 stars hotels nearby are, at least, 300% more expensive. Regarding... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Los Angeles is a busy metropolis of towering buildings, bustling streets, and industrial warehouses. There is a distinct multiplicity of cultures here with a growing influx of business professionals and hipsters. Many call the evolution of Downtown over recent years gentrification. New lofts, bars, hotels and restaurants are popping up regularly. Downtown is home to some of the very best restaurants in the city leading the LA foodie scene, plus it is the location of cultural and sports venues including the Walt Disney Concert Hall, the Staples Center, and the Coliseum at the University of Southern California.
