I showed up at 6pm on the evening of my reservation and the clerk said that my reservation had been cancelled. I asked why I had not been notified and I was told that I was sent an email at 1pm on the day of my reservation. They produced a copy of that email sent to the wrong address. I was told that they were sold out so I needed to find lodging elsewhere. I ended up getting a room in nearby hotel but paid significantly more since it was last minute. I will be contacting Marriott CS to find out how this could have happened but knowing Marriott I am sure I wont hear back. DO not stay at this hotel unless you have a backup plan or local friend with a couch.

I stayed at the Nia while on a quick business trip and appreciated the prompt and friendly service. The property was exceedingly nice and peaceful. The room was well appointed and allowed me to get the rest I needed... for the most part. The ONLY drawback was I had a room facing the highway and could hear the car noise even on a Sunday and holiday Monday. It actually woke me up. Next time I will ask for a room facing away from the road. The on-site restaurant was good. Fair beer selection and the quality of the food good. It is a pricey place though, but everything is a trade-off. I'll be back in April.

They advertise a breakfast menu and display it on the in-room TV but in fact they do not offer breakfast at the restaurant. Why advertise a fake breakfast menu? This would be ok but there are no restaurants within three miles. Also they charged a mystery $380 to my credit card and didn't say anything. When I called they pretend not to know anything but when pressed admitted it was a "system error". Sheets and bed were comfortable.

This is an Autograph Collection, Marriott hotel. Staff is very friendly, from the gentlemen at the front doors to the front desk to the restaurant servers and bartenders. The hotel is clean and well designed. The room has plenty of space. As mentioned, the bed/mattress is soft, but I found it to be very comfortable. Good sized gym with equipment in working condition. It isn't close to walkable amenities, except a bay area park that had some interesting trails with prairie dogs (?) and water birds and views of the bay. A 10 minute ride to Redwood city for restaurants. Overall, nice stay.

So this place has some nice artistic flair, comfortable rooms, and a good staff. Great lighting. To be honest I was expecting more given the price, but the area here is overpriced. It is more Marriott than Ritz. Their ad’s implied (and I inferred, my bad) this as a higher end, full service place, but it isn’t. I admit my expectations were high… Example: we got in late, checked the TV for room service hours, and confidently called around 6am. Oh, no breakfast or lunch room service…..bad form guys, take it off you TV. Limited breakfast options, but what they had was quite good. Book a balcony room for a few more bucks. I didn’t bother, but you could ask them to clean the balcony clear panels sometime this summer. Not crowded on our stay but the guests are typically business travelers. Very quit on the weekends. Nice pool and outdoor areas. KBYG, and we likely will return, there is nothing walkable around. Taxi/Car service gets you to off site dinners.

Excellent stay and customer service. I arrived late on a Monday evening after the valet had closed. The front desk hopped right in and took care of the car for me. I got in the room and it was just as pictured. I did my normal inspection, pulled back the sheets the bed was crisp. I checked out the showers perfect and equipped with two shower heads. If you are into soft beds you will love the mattress they use at Hotel Nia. The room was clean and in great condition. During my stay I spent some time at the bar and the drinks matched everything else. Great!!! I also spent some time in the gym. The equipment was working and spaced just right. I would include this hotel in my top 5. The Autograph Collection this year has not disappointed me at all.

This used to be my go to hotel in the Bay Area, but they have not maintained their beds, which are now worn out and too soft (compared to my previous stay just a couple of months beforehand). I couldn’t get a good night sleep. I've tried multiple rooms and all had a similar worn out bed. Housekeeping only cleaned the room every other day.

Everything about this hotel was fantastic- from the check in experience to the hotel restaurant to the valet staff, not to mention the room. We were upgraded at check in to a room with a bay view. The bed was comfortable and the room was extremely clean. The balcony was comfortable and perfect for drinking coffee in the morning. The valet experience was great and super easy. You request your car via an app- and the car was always ready before we got down to the lobby. The entire staff was very courteous and the rooms were well appointed. We would definitely stay here again.

I had my worst Marriott stay so far with Hotel Nia!! I redeemed my 50k free night with them. Based on the website, there was the self-parking option. When I arrived in my car, a valet greeted me saying they didn't have self-parking and I had to do the $37 valet parking. I said I didn't believe you and he mentioned "then you can check out the Meta parking building but their clock will reset at 2am so you may pay over $60 parking there." I drove there and checked with the parking management and they confirmed of a daily maximum of $30, which was indeed what I paid the next day after checking out. The front desk team was inexperienced and didn't provide any useful info. Next, due to COVID, the jacuzzi at the pool area was forbidden to use, which was still running and wasting power! Also the bed design in their guest rooms were not tall-people friendly. Later I had dinner at Porta Blu and found a plastic piece in the tuna tartar dish. It was clearly from a guacamole product box; but the server went to check with the cook and came back saying "it was from fish scales". Unbelievable. The next morning, when I tried to work a bit in the hotel room, there was an electricity/power outage in hotel rooms. No outlets or lights worked. I decided to check out and somehow in the lobby they still had electricity working. I checked out with anger and hoped it was the end of our connections. However, two weeks later, I saw an unrecognized charge appeared in my credit card history from Hotel Nia. I called the hotel and they apologized that it was supposed to be a charge to Marriott company instead of the customer!! I also complained that I never received a folio/invoice from them and they said "There are multiple emails associated with your account and it got sent to other ones". She read an email to me and it was not mine! I called Marriott CS later and the agent couldn't associate my name with the confirmation number there. They found other people's name with it! I called Marriott customer service and they created several cases for me. However, one month later, I still haven't received any response from the executive team at the hotel, nor have I received the refunds for the incorrect charges!

Just a short note to thank you so much for making our recent twelve day stay more enjoyable and relaxing than we could have hoped. The room and gardens were kept immaculately; trust me we witnessed the constant maintenance and cleaning! Also the food way above normal standards (surpassing most restaurants), but what makes the hotel rather special are the people. We were fortunately able to spend a fair amount of time chatting, giggling and getting to know a number of you; Ron was faultless in his openness, passion and restaurant recommendations – he was constantly asking if he could do more for us. Mark Anthony (what a crazy name!) wore a constant cheeky smile and on one occasion last Saturday opened the bar especially for us at 10.40pm, long after the 10.00pm close which enabled us to enjoy a memorable couple of hours around the outside fire with our elder son. The male receptionist (whose name sadly escapes me) who I teased with my cockney sarcastic joke about his obviously enjoying a good bowl of Ramen, was a jovial and lovely character. Simply put, when staying in a hotel (which we do several months a year) the enduring emotion is one of being made to feel welcome; a home from home warmth which you gave us in abundance. We were made to feel very special by very special people. Fred – as I joked if you pig out and lose your clothes sense then one day you could look like me – it’s hard, but trust me it’s worth it! You clearly love your work and have done a phenomenal job! I’m not sure if there are any more superlatives I can add, but I would ask a favor - please share this with the big cheeses. Be well and the very best of luck to you all! Good things come to good people.
