My Husband and I have been coming here for years. It started with a one night groupon thing. We fell in love and have stayed I don't know how many times since, we,ve brought family there, we,ve used the pool, hunted the nearby ( and gorgeous Gold Country) visited tons of wineries. Stuffed ourselves in the resturant, spent happy hours...

We stayed two nights in the Hotel Leger in Mokelumne Hill and enjoyed ourselves immensely. The area is full of things to see and do so a couple days there can be filled easily. The historic hotel is, well, authentic and historic. If you are looking for modern luxury this is probably not the place for you. If you are...

Historic buildings in a small Gold Rush town. In some ways it is like stepping back in time to the mid 1800s. The room was small and sparsely filled with period type pieces. The floor slanted and the walls were definitely thin, sound travels well. Thin enough that the hotel supplied disposable ear plugs in case the noise became too...

This is a great place to just be in the country & get away from it all but still be within a 15 minute drive to activities. We had ideas of possibly river rafting & mine exploring but it was more important to us to, "not have plans"...if you know what I mean. We ended up spending our Saturday just...

We would highly recommend the Hotel Leger as a great way to top off a trip into the Gold Country. We learned so much about that period of history during our meandering around the area, but staying at the Leger and seeing the community of Mokelumne Hill made it all come to life. From the wide plank flooring to the...

We stayed in the Emily Room (#12). If you want the feel of a Gold Rush experience from 1850, you must stay here. The 2nd floor balcony is accessible the old fashioned way. Through the 6 foot window. Just like John Wayne and Doc Holiday did. You get a perfect view of the sunset from the balcony. The whole decor...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We stayed in room 8 which has a private bathroom next door with a clawfoot tub. The hotel and town have so much history which make it a very interesting place to visit. We were looking for a place to getaway from the hustle of the city and definitely found it at Moke Hill. I...

We stayed in this historic hotel in Calaveras County over the Valentine-President's Day weekend. We had wanted to visit the hotel when we saw it featured on the TV show "Hotel Impossible". It seems to be the center of the community, with nearly all 646 residents of the town, Mokelumne Hill, coming into the saloon for a drink or the...

Took an hour to get dinner. Bed was extremely small and uncomfortable. Rooms are way overpriced. Was kept up all night by loud drunk people on the balcony and very loud sex next door. The thin walls and ventilation system made me suffer through every heavy breath. No one to call as the bartender goes home at 1 am and...

We had visited the Hotel Leger forty years ago in 1975 to celebrate Christmas. It hasn't really changed or improved - and why should it? This is a very special place. The owners must be congratulated on maintaining a great place that reflects the history and the nature of the community. Don't go if you want five star hotel and...
