Came with my husband for my birthday celebration weekend and definitely was not disappointed! The staff started our experience before we even left home with a text to check in. Throughout our stay we received texts to make sure we were comfortable and that our needs were met. The only drawback was the room temperature- with the fan on, hot air was blowing...with it off, no air was moving despite the open windows. Aside from that, loved everything about this place! Will highly recommend and will be back!

The hotel is in a decent location for downtown Monterey, however in the future in will stay near Cannary Row. My biggest issue was that there was No AC in the hotel and it was not advertised. The room was hot and the only way to cool it down was to open the windows and shades. Normally fine however there were so many lights outside it was impossible to sleep. Options were a hot room or blinding light all night.. either case barely any sleep. I will not return.

Not sure if it's fortunate or unfortunate that we have to cut our trip short. We had been coming to your hotel for a few years now and always looked forward to the quaintness. This time around we have lost some respect for the property. This time we paid a few dollars more to be in the new part of the hotel so we would not have to carry our luggage up the stairs to the old section. We got room 224, when we got in the windows were open and thought how nice that we would have some cool air! Unfortunately we found out that it was very noisy due to the location, right off Calle Principal, traffic and pedestrians and huge garage trucks, needless to say we only had a few hours of sleep each night. We tried to close the windows but found out the AC did not work and the room had no ceiling fan like in the old section. Ask the shower curtain in our bathroom smelled moldy. We had no place to park as your valet is not in service yet the 2 hotels across from you do offer valet. We understand the Covid matter and have learned to accept this and make due with the circumstances but I believe the minor issues need to be addressed. With this said I think a one star is pushing it.

Location was great and the hotel was clean and nice. Didn’t realize that the “historic” room meant very small. Barely enough room to walk around the bed and accommodate luggage. Another negative was the limited parking around the hotel and having to pay at a parking garage or lot.
