This hotel has a great location downtown and I felt safe walking at night in the neighbourhood. Friendly, helpful staff, very clean room and a great price. A real treat was the Tuesday night Farmers Market - 3 blocks long and the hotel right in the middle of it.

I've stayed here both times I've been in Monterey, and adore it. A throw back to more social times, all sorts of great public seating areas and great layout on each floor, not just long halls. That said, it was built in 1904, so no elevator! I always stay on the 4th floor, figure the steps are good to work...

This hotel is far from the franchise hotels with character, original Victorian furniture, elegant. It is downtown near Fishermen's Wharf, not really walking distance to Cannery Row unless you want the long walk for exercise. There are many small unique restaurants in the area. Plan on not having your car nearby. Their recommended location for parking is two blocks away...

What a cracking hotel. Imagine Wes Anderson had been given a budget to rebuild the Grand Budapest Hotel, this is whatnot would look like. Check in was great, such friendly staff who gave us a plethora of parking options and advice where to eat. We knew in advance that the lift was out of order, so we're prepared to leave...

We checked in on a Sunday night without a reservation for one night. It was a Sunday evening and quite. We got upgraded to a beautiful suite with King size bed, living room with fireplace and writing bureau. It also had a huge beautiful bathroom suite with gorgeous lighting and little touches including spa products for free use. We had mentioned...

This hotel would certainly be a 5 if it had working elevators and air in the rooms. With that being said, the hotel staff offers to help carry your luggage, and a fan provided by the staff upon request set next to an open window was perfect to keep us cool and comfortable all night. The rooms are small, but...

We had stayed at other Moonstone Hotel properties and loved them but we were disappointed as this one didn't live up to the standard. It was convenient but lacked space, quiet and the usual Moonstone amenities. Staff was nice but the noise of the bars and hotel neighbors would keep us from returning.

At the last minute of the second day of our honeymoon I found myself without a hotel in Monterey. We checked online and found this hotel to our liking. Smallish and outside was the farmers market. We had just come up the US 1 from Pismo Beach without much of a 'plan' and this turned out to be a good...

We walked into the hotel and immediately got the feel of a quaint , classic hotel. the rooms were small and nice.no mini bar, complimentary water etc in the rooms. The biggest problem we had was the sound of the sea gulls right outside our window. we had a long tiring day and a good night's rest would have been excellent...

This was a nice hotel . The only problem I had was that there was no early check in. I even called a day before to request it . Being that this is small hotel I can see why rooms were not available early. I arrived at 10am and couldn't get a room until 2. The staff gave me information...
