The beds and pillows were great. Have not slept that well in a motel in years. The location was within ten minutes of most of the Monterey's highlights. The only problem we experienced was that the breakfast area was a little small for the number of people. Get to breakfast by 8:30.

Breakfast was adequate, all carbs. Not enough seating during breakfast or parking. Pool was warm, but dirty, room was basic, but clean. I expected more for $200/night, not enough space in the breakfast nook or parking available for the amount of guests.

We had an existing reservation and checked into the hotel about 7:30 or 8pm. I was immediately hesitant when I was informed our room would be the one alongside the (fairly busy) street. Without a window against the street, I assumed any noise would be minimal. Unfortunately, I failed to notice that there was a dance club right next door...

The room was great for our family of 5 - spacious and comfortable. However, the breakfast room was far too small for the size of motel. You need a car to get into Monterey - it's too far to walk. The laundry was useful and good value

The El Castell is located just minutes from Monterey centre by car. It's a clean motel with an indoor heated pool. You might be inconvenienced by the nearby airport but we didn't hear them at night. The rooms are small but convenient and clean. The beds deserve a special mention: fluffy, soft and inviting. Breakfast is continental with a make-your-own-waffle...

This was exactly what we wanted.. Everyone was very accommodating. When we asked for an extra towel we received it. The breakfast was fine. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. The three of us had a wonderful experience.

Just a quick over night in order to get a really good night rest. Worked perfectly. A.J. at the front desk (seemingly running the whole place) is WAY over worked but does a great job and was pleasant.

We really enjoyed our stay. The motel was very clean the grounds were clean with beautiful flowers and shrubbery. The bed was very comfortable, access to coin laundry fridge and microwave. I liked that the motel was all one level. Beautiful blue doors and plantation shutters in the windows. Breakfast was standard continental. Minutes from the fishermans wharf and cannery...
