Truly about as close to visiting England as possible, without actually making the trip. Great location next to the beach, great food and pub bar - cozy but pricey rooms. I'm English and after spending the night thought that I'd been transported back when awakening the following morning. Well worth a stay and also excellent for a secluded Honeymoon

We were visiting Muir Woods for the first time, and our daughter recommended a stop at the Pelican Inn afterwards. It was, as I overheard another visitor say..... "rather like travelling 6000miles and back in time 200 years". The welcome was enthusiastic and friendly, and despite not wanting to eat, we felt valued as customers. Great pints of Blackthorn cider...

Rather small and olde worlde but on a hot Sunday afternoon at the end of November it was packed to the ceiling. Fortunately plenty of outside seating on the lawn. Would have liked to have eaten here but too crowded.

We visited Pelican Inn on a hiking trek. It was chosen for us as part of the trek, we did not chose the inn. The young lady that checked us in was nice but seemed confused or clueless about what to do. We were in an upstairs room but there was no bellman to take our luggage up the narrow...

This is an old English pub, literally, that is just 3 miles south of Muir Woods so is a pleasant stop for a glass of wine and bite to eat when you are done at Muir Woods. There is indoor seating with a cozy bar, as well as a charming patio. The building was brought from England in the 70s...

Visited during a hiking trek. Cons: Reception tried hard to accommodate but was basically clueless (trainee??). No bellman/luggage service. Had to haul suitcases up stairs. No TV in room. No A/C but that wasn't required that day. Room furnishings (rugs, chairs, sofa) were worn/dirty. Small room but that is consistent with an English cottage. Thin walls. Pros: beds were very...

This place was very unique. We had just finished a morning/afternoon hike, and decided to stop in for food and a beer. There was a long line at the bar, but the food was delicious brought out surprisingly quick. We sat outside, on the lawn, and enjoyed our meal. P.S. The beer menu was great!

We have been fortunate enough to have lived in England for almost 6 years. A pub lunch here really took us back. Very authentic construction and decor. Huge inglenook fireplace in the dining room. Lots of folks "picnic-ing" outside as the inside pub area, has only limited seating. We were lucky to have been interested in lunch at 11:30, as...

If you like nature, comfort, history, eating, England or America you will enjoy the Pelican Inn. Perfect location on Muir Beach, not too far from the city but far enough that you are really out in the landscape. Like the redwoods nearby, the hotel feels old and storied but stands sturdy and welcoming. Modeled after a tradition British Inn in...
