I booked this hotel (maybe 2 weeks in advance) to take my mum out and explore the area. the moment we checked in, we realized what a mistake we did! Our entire Monterey/Big Sur experience was ruined by staying here. And we paid a lot to get this room. Pros: nothing (literally) Cons: the heater in the room didn't work,...

I made the mistake of not booking a hotel in advance and Ended up at the beachcomber inn. I am typically not picky about where I stay as long as the place is clean, comfortable and I feel safe. The beachcomber is not any of these things. We paid over $160 for one night in a filthy room. I knew...

Don't expect too much leisurely comfort at this hotel. Most rooms need a complete renovation. The TV is outdated. There is no cable or satellite TV. On a positive note, our bed was very comfortable. I believe location is this hotel's best selling point. There is a continental breakfast every morning included in the rate with a good selection of...

Ditto....SOMEONE WHO CARES NEEDS TO BUY THIS HOTEL! This is probably the most beautiful spot in the area, and the owners have let this turn into an absolute dive. Fortunately, we asked to see rooms before we checked in--we had stayed here a few times 20 years ago when Bob and Arlene managed it, and it was adequate (not really...

I have stayed at this motel and it is very basic though functional. Cons: Very dirty carpets, lots of patches inside the bathroom, takes forever to get hot water especially if you are in the upstairs unit, limited hours to check in. no one to greet you at the front office as it is closed during the day, no microwave...

I will say this hotel does have potential to cozy & unique.I was highly disappointed in my room,it was described as a beachside bed n breakfast resort. It is beachside but absolutely distgusting once inside the room. My room smelled musky, the carpet looked like it was from the 60's and had horrible stains all over it. There was no circulation...

My husband and I feel bereft saying this, as he has stayed at this motel since 1968 when he was at Fort Ord. THE LOCATION IS MARVELOUS. But even in the old days, the property was rustic (run down). The owners have always seemed too cheap to upgrade this great property. When managers Bob passed and Arlene left, the owner...

I have stayed in a lot of funky hotels near the Assilymar Conference Grounds, but this is the funkiest of them all. I really try to not expect too much, just need a place close enough for the youth I bring to walk to and from grounds. Although this hotel meets that expectation, we will not be staying here again....

We have stayed here many times before. We have two big teenage boys and we book room 14 (one queen, two fulls) for a reasonable price. Pros: The beds were comfortable. We had an oceanview from our room that I enjoyed immensely. The location is just awesome, right next to the Conference Center and the beach; my husband was attending...

I usually do not give bad reviews to any places, but this one deserves it. We got to the hotel pretty late to check in, but they knew the time we were coming as we called earlier to let them know. When we arrived at the hotel our reservation was not there for the night we've arrived.. They Said the...
