This was our first trip to Palm Springs so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I know how rowdy some of the hotels in the area can be, and this wasn't it, thank goodness. The property was beautiful, lots of lush foliage and rooms that feel tucked away. Tons of old charm and sweet details - rocking chairs, cabanas,...

Our experience was nothing less than perfect. We arrived and immediately received a warm welcome from the front desk. We gave the clerk our name and she advised us that our room had been upgraded. She went on to describe the private setting with patio jacuzzi tub, we were totally surprised. The room was as described, clean, nice sized and...

I just got back from a mini vacation in Palm Springs. We travel frequently with hotel stays being a monthly requirement for both work and pleasure and stay in some pretty over the top places so we are used to fine accomodations. We decided to try the Colony Palms and we were not dissapointed. Free valet parking with really friendly...

The Colony Palms get my vote, the staff is awesome, the grounds are private and manicured and the service is immeidate and helpful. We just got back from 5 nights, I needed to re-charge, the room was clean, morracan decor and the beds are to die for. I can say enough about the place, if you are looking for a...

The Colony Palms is a quiet little oasis near the downtown strip in Palm Springs. Reminiscent of a 40's/50's private villa - the hotel has a small pool and jacuzzi in the center of a palm/plant fringed garden; rooms scattered around the periphery of the 'villa' center furnished in a designer/adobe/moorish style. The restaurant Purple Palm is excellent and probably...

We drove in from Santa Barbara...it took 5 hours! By the time we checked in we were ready for our room. Room is avg. we were disappointed with the tiny tv and NO BATHTUB!!! Check in experience was good. Very intimate feeling. But the most amazing part of our first 60 mins has been the absolutely uhhhhhhhhhh-mazzzzzzzzing food. Honestly, amaze....

We stayed here one night as a stopover between LA and Vegas. I wasn't expecting much as we were going to Palm Springs for the outlet mall. Turns out we didn't like the outlet mall much but loved Palm Springs and the hotel. The service was very friendly. We were traveling with a baby and they helped carry everything to...

We loved the style of the rooms, beautiful garden, big pool, cool fireplace, mostly attentive service, great location in the middle of Downtown Palm Springs with its many restaurants and galleries. Minor downsides: the music that was played constantly on the poolside and restaurant was too loud and spoiled a bit the serene atmosphere of the lush garden with its...

You can read about the history of this property elsewhere, but I will say that of all the properties in Palm Springs, the CP is one of the most discreet and reserved. It's best when you go mid-week, as the weekends can sometimes be populated with Los Angeles-types who stare at you over their giant sunglasses (don't worry -- they're...

Stayed here 26/27 October 2011. Undeniably nice hotel. Beautiful spacious room with immaculate bathroom (shower very nice). Communal pool areas also immaculate and very pleasant. Could have benefitted from turning the music off though - most people's music taste differs, but it was frankly pretentious and intrusive. Service in the restaurant was friendly and helpful and the food was very...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Originally built in 1936 by reputed Purple Gang Mobster Al Wertheimer, the Colony Palms Hotel was once a saloon, speakeasy and gambling house that later became a playground for Hollywood ICONS including Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin & Rita Hayworth. Colony Palms Hotel has maintained its nobility as a stunning four-star boutique hotel spread out over a three acre property. The rooms promise subtle sophistication with brilliantly colored mosaic tiles and fabrics, rich woods, and suzani headboards. Many have fireplaces and claw-foot bathtubs. Mature gardens throughout the property provide privacy, and intimate outdoor spaces, and the rooms open to the a central courtyard with pool. The hotel’s restaurant, the Purple Palm boasts exquisite cuisine and a stunning view of both the pool and San Jacinto Mountains. The newly redesigned Spa offers a serene atmosphere and top of the line treatments. Colony Palms Hotel also plays host to a variety of stunning weddings and events, with the option of utilizing a newly refreshed private event space or a full property buyout for a truly intimate celebration. Colony Palms Hotel is a mix of modern luxuries with a dash of romance and tranquil getaway. ... more   less
