The Darling House is a gorgeous place, over 100 years old and with lots of architectural interest. The couple and their daughter who own the house are very, very nice and were accomodating as best they could be. However, the house has very old furniture (which would be great if it were re-upholstered), lovely oriental rugs (some of which badly...

We are grateful to be able to share the magic of this original 100 year old mansion. Some of the furnishings are actual turn of the century antiques that is used by the general public. Although this home was originally wired with the convenience of electricity which was a luxury in the early 1900's it did not have the building...

My friend and I needed a relaxing break and found this to be the perfect place. We stepped through the door into the past. Yes, there was a smell like my grandmother's house and yes, the towels and furnishings were a bit worn but it was very clean and comfortable. We stayed in the Rainbow room. The bed was a...

This was not at all what we expected and thank goodness it was for only one night. Very dark and gloomy inside. Smelled like mothballs, musty! No airflow until my husband pryed the window open and stuffed his shoes in it to keep open. Ocean view only if standing and looking through 2 small windows and over the rooftop. If...

Since the house was built in 1911 we have done our best to maintain the original characteristics of that time including low lights and early 1900 furnishings. We recognize the importance of modern day needs & attempted to provide our guests with as much as possible to make their stay with us comfortable & relaxing. We have wireless internet, cable...

We had a great time, my husband, and I met my brother and sis-in-law there for 2 nights. We enjoyed the house so much. The homemade breakfast items were a huge hit, and Darrell reads a poem after breakfast - great touch!. Yes, it's an old house, and it's a little tired, but the innkeepers - Karen and Darrell and...

My husband and I purchased a two night stay from central coast deals at this lovely B&B. After reading some of the reviews it seemed like we stayed at a very different place. We arrived at 4pm and were greeted by the owner Karen with a lovely smile and freshly baked cookies! She checked us in and we realized the...

The Darlings have taken their historic home and opened it for others to enjoy. This home overlooks the Pacific Ocean with views of the historic Santa Cruz pier and boardwalk. The Darling's hospitality is second to none. Stay here if you want to be treated better than family.

I stayed at the Darling House for a family reunion and really enjoyed my stay. All the furnishings in the home were authentic and made me feel that I was in another time. The location is incredible and the staff is sweet. I loved our breakfasts. Also, I didn't notice a smell as others have pointed out on these reviews....

I stayed at the Darling House with a huge group of extended family. It was rented out for us for a wedding party. We all had a great time. Because we knew everyone in all the rooms, we got to tour them all. Some rooms were definitely nicer than others. We probably had the least plush room - and still,...

I saw this place on Groupon and decided to treat my wife to a "just because" getaway in a beautiful B&B in Santa Cruz. As others have said, from the outside the house is perfect, beautiful home, perfect location... just perfect. Inside however is not perfect. Musty, moldy, and dank. We stayed in the Pacific Room (the upstairs bedroom overlooking...
